Iona's Women's team opened with an 82-75 OT win over Arizona. Damika Martinez led the way with 35 points, while the double double machine contributed 22 and 12. Joy Adams also played all 45 minutes. I'm assuming we'll play Michigan in the final, tomorrow afternoon. While the Lady Wildcats are not at the level of their Men's team, any win over a PAC 12 team is a VG win. The Godsey reign has started on a good note.

Michigan lost to Bowling Green, which led the entire way. Both are highly disciplined, smooth teams.

Great game and a great start. Sabrina Jeridore has taken a great leap and is now a fierce defender and rebounder. You guys have got to check this team out!!!!

Watching the Arizona Michigan game while awaiting the CS game. Wow, Hynes is really "marooned out" on TV - will not see the empty seats this year. Interesting to see two BCS teams battling it out on the Hynes floor - for the consolation. Have a feeling Casidee Ranger will wear a contented smirk if she gets a chance to return to AZ for Thanksgiving dinner. She probably wants a piece of the Sun Devils now to complete the AZ braggin' rights. You go, Girl!
Great start by Billi, with a BCS scalp on her first day out. Who was that again that she replaced?
Just kidding Tony, we still love ya.

Speaking of Tony, his SH team opened with a win over Longwood, last Friday. But I noticed from the boxscore that Kat Egan who followed Tony to SH, didn't play. Does she have to sit out as a transfer? Anyone know?
Also, our Women's team plays at St. John's tonight. SJU was VG last year and I'm assuming they'll be vg this year. I am interested in seeing how Damika stacks up against a top level BE team.

The SJU women have made the NCAA's four straight years, including the Sweet 16 two years ago. But after that season they lost their coach, Kim Barnes Arico, to Michigan. Even still with her lead assistant, Joe Tartamella, they made it to the tourney, last year, again I hope he can keep it going. It should be a good game, as the Iona women are also very good. Maybe I'll ask my wife if I can bring my daughter and go to the game.
