I know its early, but there is no rhyme or reason that I can figure out.......Latest 11/18/13 RPI standings....... Iona is the lowest rated of all MAAC teams at no. 298...The next dozen or so are 2-13. 3 of them are winless..... We started the season about 100 points better then most...We lost a close game away from home to a decent opponent, then won a easy victory at home yet dropped to the bottom of the bunch...I am a fan who is familiar with rankings and polls and their workings, but this info defies me and logic.....I am sure there are those that will explain it away to early season unpredictability, but one wonders if for example St. John's would suffer the same fate...No matter what they do they will not fall out of the top 60 or so. I am aware at times I rile to much, but I am convinced our dismal local press, and nearness to New York City and its overwhelming sport press has been a detriment to our standing as one of the Nations better mid-majors with a 4-5 year record to prove it...

OT, I hear your complaints, but wonder if our RPI will have any effect on us at this time. We have a challenging OOC sked and when we finish that part of our sked, we'll know where we SHOULD stand. JMO.

RPI is just a mathematic formula that doesn't take into account scoring margin. It means nothing this early in the year. Have to give it about 6 or 7 games to have any meaning.

ot, at this point think of it in terms of Ike Davis going 2 for 4 on Opening Day... Ted Williams shouldn't have much to worry about. The numbers just aren't meaningful at this early stage.

Our RPI will improve simply by playing Kansas, win or lose.
