Well put, Bill. Well put, indeed. As with anything else in life, there is a fine line between desperately working and enjoying the challenge of the work. It's the difference between playing not to lose and playing to win. It is a comfort level that I (and I am sure many) strive to achieve in day to day life. It's a process, not an event.
These guys have the talent. They need to work hard and play at a comfort level and with confidence that they gave it their best. Win or lose, I will be proud of them. But for their own sake, they need to be able to say they gave it their best shot.
Go Gaels!!!

Lets stop fooling around and get back to some thing that worked.....Provided that Williams has served his time in exile........
Lowrey......Williams......Hinds......up front......Armand.......English at the point.........
Bowman......Poole.........Ellis.......Gomez.....First off bench...
Sledge......Scott.........Strategic short rest periods......... . We will need all the height we can put on the floor...The starting team has length... Lets stop the tantrums with both players and staff and let a leader step forward to put new life in what appears to be a moribund team........

OT...agreed on the depth chart. The team will be just fine. If we can win tomorrow (and that's a BIG if) I don't see us losing anymore until the Manhattan game at home on Jan 31. What a build up that would be, if we can go into that game undefeated and tied with them for first in the conference.

I hope your right but running the table through January is asking a lot the way this team is playing now. Winning at Siena and at SPC and at home vs Canisus and Quinny may be more than this team is capable of right now, but a win at Quinny would sure help the confidence of this team and we the fans.

Tonight cancelled moved to Monday at 7PM still on SNY.[/quote] Might be a blessing in disguise.....Niagara at home Saturday should be a bit easier to get back in action with.... The way weather man are trying to out do each other, is it possible we are facing dooms day...Give me a break....Years ago during depression days we were hit with major storm....Bridgeport Conn...was completely snowbound...Its Mayor was asked during a press conference what he was going to about it...As the city was broke and paying City employees with ''Promise to pay'' notes, his answer was a classic ''Nothing, spring will take care of it''.....He would get my vote...

My picks with spread.......Marist...........St. Pete's.......Monmouth.......Niagara.......Iona.... Best bet..........Marist...... [/quote Marist, Monmouth, Siena, and Best Bet Marist all Victories......ST.Pete's shot below 30% still managed to stay close. Marist will be a handful especially at home....Free and loose...Playing with house money... Monmouth...A be careful with team...Put them away early or it might cost you........ St. Pete's....Will manage a low scoring win or two along the way..... Siena...Will do better as soon as they move to a stronger conference..... There off!!!...That's Manhattan and Iona neck and neck forging to the front by two lengths...Followed by Canisius, and Quinny....Another half length to Rider, then nicely tucked in along the rail is Marist...Another half length to bunched up Monmouth, Niagara and ST.Pete's. Trailing the field is Siena, and Fairfield...There is a long way to go.....

I'll be there Thursday night as the real season begins. Go Gaels Go!!! This will be a tough game as Quinny has a nice combination of good big men and small, speedy guards. Should be fun to watch. I'd love to go but haven't heard back from Matt G. yet. Did you ever hear from him? I can make this game and want to be sure to sit with Iona fans.

Tomorrows game will be decided upon which team can impose its particular strength against the other...Quinny's will be its inside game, Iona's will be its outside game...If we can have a good outside shooting game, I like our chances...If it is mediocre, we will need strong games from the front court...If it is poor, we will need lots of luck.....
It will be a very decisive game for us...A win will send a message to the rest of the MAAC and have them rethink our 4 losses and once again have us to fear...We will also be sailing into fairly calm waters for the next few games, and give us a chance to build our won and lost record back to respectability...Even though Niagara scored over 90 points, IMO we played a much stronger defense for the better part of the first half....
The weather re-scheduling over the weekend couple with the easy win over Niagara, may be just what we needed to jump start the seasons recovery...
Aside...As much of a laugh reading the Siena board brings, I admire their fans for their unrealistic optimistic views...No matter reality, one win brings ''We are on our way'' with of course visions of belonging in a stronger conference...

Oldtimer: The unreal (I prefer "cockeyed") optimism of Siena fans regarding which conference they should be a part of is equaled on this board by those who feel a new athletic center is feasible in the near future.

I think we'll start big tonight since Quinny's has two decent bigs averaging 16 and 12 ppg respectively. Our guard plays doesn't worry me at all since we are very versatile and talented at this position. I think Hines gets another start tonight with Laury, AJ, Sean and Poole. Starts don't really matter with Cluess because he will play the point and effort contributors all day long. He's an old school coach who preaches hard work and consistency as his model and those that want to play always conform. Hopefully if this is the lineup the bigs stay out of foul trouble because there are no others after them. Hopefully Robinson can return sooner than later and mature quickly enough to get into a steady rotation.
Coming off a game like Niagra should be a lego block in the foundation for a successful season.
