Positives seen. Now we need consistency on both ends of the floor. Hate to lose a home game. Perez killed us .

Wow this was a tough one to take. Amazing comeback but couldn't close it out.

The Joebird streak continues as the order of the universe always prevails. Down 2 with the ball and 11 seconds I knew it wasn't going to happen. We just don't win at the buzzer.
Great comeback but we handed it back to them with three or four straight turnovers down the stretch that the Griffs turned into points.
Tough loss.

If only Cluess could get the team to play most of the game with the intensity they showed in the second half, we'd have a hell of a season.

MAAC basketball put on a good show. McCormmick noted strong guard play in MAAC. Baron dominated discussion, but Armand got some mention. Expect ESPNU will be pumped for Manhattan game. MAAC Tournament should be good theater. GO GAELS!

I was at Hynes tonight and have to say that although the crowd was quite a bit smaller than the other home games I have been to this season, they got very vocal and supportive during the comeback run. Really nice game by Isaiah, he was tenacious on the defensive end especially against Baron. The team showed a lot of heart coming back from 20 point deficit to go up by 5, but some sloppy play toward the end killed us. Interesting that once Cluess went to the small lineup, Laury did not get back in the rest of the game. Was a message being sent? Curious that Ryden Hines only got one minute of playing time -- and during one of the second half timeouts I saw him yawning. Wonder if he was sick.

Great comeback but we handed it back to them with three or four straight turnovers down the stretch that the Griffs turned into points. Tough loss. Yes CJB 0-87 now in buzzer beaters the last 40 years, it's really unbelievable. Cluess is great at making comebacks but absolutely horrible in getting his team to execute in one possession end of the game situations. Why does he even bother calling timeouts to run plays at the end of the game , he would be better off just letting them play. First timeout results in passing the ball to the other team and the end of the game they settle for an Armand 28 footer. his record in last possession games is like 1 -12. yes he has more plusses than minuses but he is bad at these end of game situations. Iona would need to win at Canisius to make up for this. Crowd attendance tonight was embarrassing although people who were there made noise. Game Sunday is a major trap game , Iona will have no fans there due to football, patsos will have Siena motivated and they have had an extra day to prepare and Iona may be tired. A loss Sunday can really set us on a tailspin. lastly agree with others IW is the key to the season.

This is why I love college and high school basketball. Great drama. Never know what will happen from game to game, half to half. In Coach Cluess we trust. Gotta believe.

Let's see if Cluess can get the team motivated. Have to agree with Joebird. Very little good comes after Iona calls a time out while on offense.

What a fun game to watch, unfortunately with a heartbreaking ending in typical Iona fashion. Some observations from the game:
1. Guys showed a ton of heart and guts coming back like they did. One thing tonight should have showed us was that these guys are real fighters.
2. Isaiah Williams very impressive tonight and showed more than just outside shooting. Let's hope he can continue to be a reliable presence for the team as we are clearly a much better and more aggressive team when he is in the mix.
3. Baron is a man among boys right now and can carry the griffs on his back. However it's real frustrating that he gets away with blatant push offs on every play.
4. Our guys ran out of gas at the end and understandably so, as we basically went with the same unit for the whole second half. You could start to sense some fatigue at about the 4 minute mark and just knew we were not heading in the right direction.
5. DL3 playing too soft. Hopefully he took notes on how to play with a killer instinct from watching the guys from the bench.
6. Despite the criticism of some i don't think the coaching staff is to blame at all down the stretch. The first big possession was not on the coaches, it was on AJ making a bonehead pass, and on the last play Sean got a decent look from a distance that is well within his range. What more can we ask for in that spot? If he hits the shot like he does 4 times out of 10 then the coaches are heroes for drawing up that play.
7. Huge game from Poole. We got more productivity from him on the boards tonight than we have out of any of our bigs all season long, and he was a big spark plug on defense. Still think his true role on this team is as a 6th man but tonight proved that he brings a lot of value to the squad.
8. Very concerned with the fact that this team hasn't proven that they can either pull out a nail biter win or beat an upper tier team on the conference.
9. Great to see enthusiasm and passion from both the bench and the fans tonight. This is exactly how Hynes should be every night only with another 1,500 people in attendance.
10. AJs turnover probably cost is the game but in the long run I think it will be a blessing. Think he is a tough kid who will use it as motivation so that next time he has the ball with the game on the line he will convert.
Go Gaels!!!

Proud of the guys for fighting back. They seem to have lost steam once they took the lead. Good look at the end of the game and a good shot by Sean. Just didn't fall.

Iona05 I would agree with you on the two last second plays if it didn't happen every time. AJ's turnover occurred because nothing was happening and he started to panic. Armand does not hit 4 out of 10 from 28 feet, he is as good as anyone in the nation at this distance but not from that far, that should not be the best shot we get when Canisius did not know if we would go for 2 or 3, they were lucky a double teamed and in deep trouble Bowman was even able to get it to him, and it was still decently covered. If you gave me money to bet between Iona winning the game in the last minute and I had to choose between having timeouts and not, believe it or not I wouldn't think twice about betting on no timeouts (even though of course I would lose either way).

Last night has also finally got me to realize we are just a .500 team, that's where we are and likely how we will end up. Our lack of rebounding, poor defense and limited inside game will leave this team at 15-14 and 12-8 going into Maac tourney. I do think this years tourney is very similar to last year in that the top 4 teams almost all have the same shot to win, however last year I think we may have had a minuscule better shot than anyone while this year I think our shot to win is slightly behind the Jasper's, griffs and Quinny. Still think this team could win it but if I had to bet I would go with Baron over Manhattan. Finally if somehow we won we would be a 16 seed and with the perfect game the Gaels do have enough talent to knock off a #1 seed, basically raining 3's from all 4 of our shooters. I would take a .500 season for that ending!
