Blue Book MAAC forecast for this season.......1. Manhattan 2. Iona 3. Canisius 4. Marist 5.Rider 6. Niagara 7. Fairfield 8. Siena 9. Quinny 10. St.Pete's 11. Monmouth
At the half way mark, my guess with MAAC Tourney odds......1. Iona 4-1 2. Canisius 9-2 3. Manhattan 5-1 4. Quinny 7-1 5. Rider 12-1 6. Monmouth 25-1 7. Siena 25-1 8. Marist 25-1 9. Niagara 35-1 10. Fairfield 35-1 11. St Peter's 35-1.
QUESTIONS...Can Iona win 3 in a row...Can Canisius avoid their stinker games...Can Manhattan overcome injuries...Can Quinny be as good as they at times look... Is there a sleeper in the remaining group?
And can Iona shoot lights out and surprise a No. 2 or 3 seed in the NCAA Tourny???

I think Quinny is going to win the MAAC tournament. They are most equipped across the front line and their guards are more than formidable. Iona will have to shoot it very well to beat them on a neutral court.

Guards win the tournament, and Quinny's are young. They look like a semifinal loss.

I know people hate this when I talk about NCAA seeds this early but I strongly disagree with old timer and Super as to our NCAA seed should we win, last year we had a much better RPI and some decent OOC wins and we were a 15 seed. All depends on how many upsets there are in other conference tourneys but there is absolutely no way we would be a 14 seed, and I doubt a 15, we are likely a 16 that doesn't get in a play in but it would be close. Don't forget there are now 6 16 seeds.

Don't forget there are now 6 16 seeds. A great deal has to do with how other conference championships with similar ratings fare. For example, if a few conference championships are won with 5 or 6 seeds upsetting the prohibitive favorite, a team like Iona would move up. If I'm not mistaken, last year we were the strongest #15 seed, meaning there were 7 weaker teams then us. Obviously if Iona loses a number of games and then gets hot to win 3 in a row we would be considered a 16, but I would say the more likely scenario is we finish as a #2 seed in the MAAC tourney and wind up a 14 or 15 in March Madness if we are fortunate enough to win our conference tourney.

java, I LOVE your and others' enthusiasm (Joebird, OT?), but our seed is the least, imo, of our worries. I'll be ecstatic if we get to the Tourney, no matter where we are slotted. I was hoping that I'd get some other takes on my All Star picks.

Joebird.....As you all know any forecast made by the Oldtimer will be tainted by his many years as a Iona fan.....My forecast that if Iona enters the NCAA tourney they might be about a 14-15 seed was based upon the assumption that with Williams who has now has just about hit his potential stride, they will have a strong finish, and with that the selection committee will take it into consideration...IMO If Williams contributes as much as it looks like he might, and that Coach Cluess has seemed to have the found the proper use of Sledge and Gomez, Iona will have found some of its missing pieces...
I like all true sport fans should, root with my heart, but try hard to keep a sense of reality....

If the players you mentioned above excel against Quinny and Manhattan, I buy it. IW does, however, have all the tools and then some.
