05, husker have you been to games this year? the benches were moved to the other side and the cameras are now on the season ticket side facing the student section for that reason, we have 3 or 4 games on espn3 already

I watched the Canisius and Quinnipiac games on TV and recall that the view was of the season ticket side with loud cheers vocal support from the camera side. I maybe mistaken, but there were a lot of empty seats visible giving the impression it was not the student section. Unless visiting my sons in The Upper East Side I would not be attending any games with living in New Hampshire.

Just checked ESPNU schedule and Iona site which shows game at 9:00 P.M. Is this accurate? Could swear it was 7:00 p.m. A few days ago. Can anyone confirm?

Game switched to 9PM a few weeks ago for TV purposes. Seems every Friday TV game has the potential to move either way.
As for Iona Tweet on the Arena: I think all they mean is current gym (Arena) was updated with new floors, paint job and subtle changes like benches switching sides.

Joebird...sounded to me like they were referring to the future not to the past upgrades that were already made, with the "Board Has Approved" language.

When I posted about changing the gym into an arena, Iona Advancement people were DEFINITELY talking about the future. Of course it might be just wishful thinking. But I'll say this about Dr. Nyre, he's not sitting still, and much is happening. Exciting times at our College.

Wish the camera angle was different. Most arenas are setup to have the student in full view to take advantage of their enthusiasm. Put the students on display for TV and create a little more excitement for tv audience. SID was the tv camera angle considered to try to take advantage of student section vs half empty season ticket section? First impressions carry a lot of weight and I would think shots of enthusiastic students cheering Iona would help with marketing the college and team. Just my opinion. I love small venues that are packed and loud much better than larger venues with the same number of spectators. Bigger is not always better. The athletes love loud boisterous crowds as it adds to the excitement and intensity on the floor. Praying for a full house and some noise! Already done! Our AD made the switch this summer. As 1970 mentioned, the benches are in front of the student side and the camera platform is on the reserved side. Here's a longer highlight real from the Q'pac game: www.icgaels.com/mediaPortal/player.dbml?catid=29309&id=3171968Tickets are going extremely fast. If you don't have them already, do so tomorrow. Our new Asst. AD for Marketing Tom Moran is accepting phone orders (914) 633-2491 or just click the TICKETS button on ICGaels.com and you can print at home and avoid the will call line. Walk-up availability is going to be EXTREMELY limited if at all. This info will be on our website in the morning. As far as students go, we're giving away 1,000 Richie Guerin T-Shirts. The pregame reception for students brought our best student crowd this season to the Quinnipiac game and we're anticipating an even bigger crowd. An email was sent to all students this evening encouraging attendance to both the women's game tomorrow night and the Manhattan game. Most of you are probably on our Goal Club or tickets email blast list. If you're not, send me an email and I'll add you, bbeyrer@iona.edu. A separate email was sent to those lists as well. Also, I believe the College is putting our a press release Thursday regarding the tweets from the President's State of the College address from Wednesday. It's truly exciting news. Go Gaels!

Our game tomorrow night, will be a preview of the Super Bowl, as the game will feature a VG offensive team (Iona/Denver) against a VG defensive team (Manhattan?Seattle). At least that is how I see it.

Looking forward to the entire evening. Manhattan is a beatable team and let's hope our guys come out to play from the opening tip! While I never saw our Hall of Fame Player play in a Gael uniform, for many, many years he was the standard every Gael was made aware of from the day you stepped on to the practice court until the last day of the season. I remember JB, Warren Issac's, Tommy Burke, Ray Hyland and many more all talking about the accomplishments of Guerin. In my opinion tomorrow night we will be honoring our first All American and the second best player ever to wear an Iona uniform, the best, without a doubt was our own Jeff Ruland. Let's hope some day soon we honor his accomplishments as well and let's do it long before his 84th birthday!

We opened a 3 point favorite...Latest has us at 2 1/2...This would be a pick-em game on a neutral court........
