I hear those people who think it's a waste to follow these brackets until we've clinched a tourney bid and those who think that it's superstitious. But what fun is it being a fan if you can't enjoy seeing the name of little Iona College in the bright lights on things such as ESPN Bracketology and the such? Obviously we all know that this is a wasted discussion unless we win three in Springfield, but the whole fun of being a fan is to engage in these kind of discussions. These things don't come around too often so we might as well embrace them when they come. Just my two cents.
Everything is just conjecture at this point. Way too many scenarios based upon opinions and assumptions as to what will happen in the individual conference tournaments. Crazy to waste time and energy concerned or interested on this at this point in my opinion. Totally meaningless if we do not win the MAAC Tournament. Wait until the deal is done and the other conference tournaments are played.
Hmmm
If we agreed on the same sh*t, life would be pretty boring.
It's fun to speculate on where the experts have us seeded and our potential opponent. I know posters 05, joebird and others enjoy it. Also, it's fun to track the potential #2,#3,#4, and #5 seeds (possible opponents).
Obviously, this could all "flame out" if we lose the MAAC tourney. Then, I suppose someone will start an NIT opponent projection thread. My time and energy is not wasted analyzing this information.
A number of posters like to discuss Fordham basketball. I have zero interest, thus refrain from posting on that thread. However, I do understand a number alum/posters enjoy discussing Fordham due the rivalry history, proximity, etc. I respect that.
My advice for you is to choose the threads you wish to participate in wisely.

I'm interested in the bracketology not because I think it matters much even up to the release of the brackets (see 2 years ago, when they had us on the outside looking in), but because I find it interesting to see how we're viewed. As you guys know, I tend to be one of the more objective posters out here, never getting too high or too low. I like to see who they see us on par with, above, and below, for the intrigue of it. Don't really care who they pair us with, as Greg says we tend to get a terrible draw most years anyway.
I like our chances to win this weekend, but yes, the worst could happen and we may not win. I still love the way this season has gone because the team has exceeded my expectations. Other than a disastrous beat in the final (another damn Andujar 30-footer?), I won't come away from this weekend feeling like the kids "failed" if they don't win. But if they do, we get to experience that joy once again, and THEN we can start tearing apart the brackets for real.
The greatest poster in the history of the MAAC as determined by THREE separate polls.

Hey we just finished up a great regular season, we should be talking about bracketology, its part of having hopes and dreams, no? I'd rather have this thread, than be coming off a miserable season and having a thread speculating about the next head coach. Something good is going to happen for this team, be ready for it!

The week between the final regular season game and the Tournament is a real "pins & needles" week as we all look forward in our own way to the possibilities and pitfalls ahead. It's a great, exciting time when one's team has a real shot at the title. We have reasons to be optimistic and looking to the future--even Joebird!!!
I did say I think we will win an NCAA game should we get in (positive joebird) but fear baron having one of those unstoppable games against us where he hits a 30 footer at the buzzer to beat us ( negative joebird).
As for bracketology one matchup I haven't seen even though they are a projected 4 is San Diego st., I think that is a bad matchup for us and since we usually get bad matchups fear that could happen should we get in.

SDSU will be a match up headache for every 13 seed. Play 9 deep, ridiculously athletic team that defends every possession. Xavier Thames is one of the best point guards in the country. They were upset last year by FGCU and clearly struggled under the tournament pressure. Don't see the Aztecs struggling in the early rounds this year due to senior leadership and playing a very difficult out of conference schedule.
"Who are some teams that could be this year's FGCU?
Herewith, my top five:
1. Harvard. The Crimson have struggled with injuries, but they enter the final week of the regular season with a two-game lead for first in the Ivy, and this team is at least as good as the one that upset New Mexico in the NCAA tournament last year.
2. Vermont. The team that came within a whisker of shocking Duke in Cameron Indoor Stadium in December has romped through the America East Conference behind do-everything senior forward Brian Voelkel.
3. Green Bay. Won the Horizon League regular season by two games and beat Virginia at home in December.
4. Stephen F. Austin. The Lumberjacks haven't lost a game since Nov. 23. Winning is a habit.
5. UC Irvine. The Anteaters have a two-game lead for first place in the Big West Conference and have an XL-sized weapon in 7-foot-6 center Mamadou Ndiaye"
rpiforcaST, WHICH HAD EVERYONE EXCITED THAT RPI COULD GET AS LOW AS THE HIGH 30'S IS PRETTY FUNNY, IF YOU LOOK AT EACH MAAC TEAM, NO ONE IS EXPECTED TO GO 3-0, HOW EXACTLY DOES THAT WORK
