Winning 3 games in 3 nights is very tough but once again we have as good a chance as any maac team.
As for winning a game in the tourney it comes down to a few things, one getting at least a 14 seed, as we learned last year playing a 1 or a 2 leaves us at a huge disadvantage physically.
Two getting a match up that favors the Gaels.
Three: playing well in an NCAA game.
I will tell you this if 2 or more of the Iona 4 3 point shooters are hot we will be very difficult to beat.
If we can just get there I think this team has as good a chance as ever to get us our NCAA win.
A month to go and once again we dare to dream, it's about time we get to live that dream!

Agree Joebird, and the key to this streak has been having at least 4 of our 6 guys playing at a good level or better. That has for the most part been the case. With a 13 seed, we would have a decent shot at an upset. 14 might be a stretch.

The most important variable is having a favorable match up.
In 1998 we faced Syracuse and I felt that was a good match up and we could compete. Also, the year we played Ole Miss was a game I felt we could win. Both games were decided in the final seconds.
When we drew LSU (with Big Babies) and last year with Ohio State, I knew we were outmatched due to the opposing teams inside presence.
IF we are fortunate to represent the MAAC and are most likely a 13 or 14 seed, of the eight 3/4 seeds, we probably would match up decently with 2 of those 8 teams. Hopefully the selection committee would pair us up with a favorable opponent.

Yes lsu and Ohio state were horrible match ups, miss was a great match up but it just didn't happen, not sure Syracuse was a good match up, we were so good that year no way anyone was beating us easily, in fact I would argue that was a bad match up, a better match up we would have won at least one game.

When the Polish kid from Syracuse launched the shot I knew it was going in. I loved that iona team and was bummed that MacDonald and Hameed were not able to advance. Still remember it vividly.

You sorta think you should lose one before the big ones to remind you that you are not immortal. But we are not playing to lose. Save that comment I am fully aware and agree.
