With a list like that, they'd be better to consider Top 5 or widening the Metro area

sju has a higher rpi and a much higher sos than iona
Tiger This ST.John's OOC schedule...All of the games were at their home...RPI provided. Wagner 220 Bucknell 179 Monmouth 283 Longwood 335 Penn State 123 Fordham 194 Youngstown State 202 Columbia 150 Seton Hall 123 Dartmouth 306 and San Francisco.... If Iona had that schedule and all at home instead of those they played mostly away, they would have a record of at least 25-4...As for St. John their RPI is unexplainable to me unless they started the year from a 1970 RPI. As for the SOS rating, your guess is as good as mine unless they discounted the teams listed above....... That is a without defense OOC Schedule...Along with the ballyhoo NCAA effort to promote it is shameful... I was once a St. John's fan, and made many trips downtown to root them on, but they hit the dumps since the Jarvis era, and are trying to recover the easy way....

according to todays relatime rpi...iona has a sos of 178 and sju sos is 29.....big difference
SJU still doesn't pass the eye test.
According to Pomeroy Feb.25th....IONA's OOC rating is 14th...St.JOHN's is 281.... Figures can be misleading and can easily be used to benefit or hurt a position.... Back many years ago the Wall Street Journal headlined a story about a major cooperation whose profits went up a 1000% for the year...Of course liberals were outraged...No body should be allowed to make that much profit.... The following day they ran a follow up story...It seems the Corporation had made a penny the year before, and then made 10 dollars the current year......

SJ's OOC schedule was pretty weak this year. They were called out for it in the pre-season by a few commentators. But their conference schedule is strong, obviously. Conversely, we try to beef up our OOC schedule and during the conference season we take a hit with some conference teams being over 200 or 300 RPI. We have no control over our conference schedule obviously, nor does SJ's. SJ's can schedule weak teams OOC because they'll get an RPI boost when the real games begin.

We need bottom feeders like Siena to improve to pull up our in conference SOS, right?
