Once again Coach Cluess represented Iona College very well. Thank goodness the interviewers were more knowledgable than Francesca.

Can you give a recap for those of us that couldn't listen to this?

Coach Cluess noted that the team is sharing the ball well and that with 5 players scoring in double digits that makes them dangerous. He stated Iona kinda plays old school get up and down the floor basketball that should be exciting to most fans. Every team in the MAAC is capable of winning a game or two, but it is difficult to win 3. He would not identify any team singly as dangerous or threat, reiterated any team can win each game. No bulletin board comments. Complimented the league. Noted Sean Armand may get looks from NBA as a specialist with his shooting the 3. Glad that Iona is part of the resurgence of basketball in the NYC area. Looking forward to a good MAAC Tournament. Always polite and humble with interviewers.

We must keep in mind that Coach Cluess did not arrive at Iona as young man or with the general youthful ambitions...As far as I know he was never associated with a Div. 1 program, and his mindset in the mid 50s might have a different and more developed outlook....
What ever it is, we should be thankful and elated he came our way. There is no doubt in my mind that his success and basketball style along with his maturity has opened the eyes of many top rated programs, and that if he chose, would jump at the chance to bring him to their school........
