I remember them killing us in the Meadowlands back in the mid 80s. Have we played them after that?
Tech defeated Iona 84-54 on 1/2/1986
Karl Malone
w/o Malone.. he graduated in 1985.

"Tickets will be $15 for 100 level seats, $10 for general admission and free for the first 1,000 students thanks to private support. Students can reserve their seat for the game by presenting a valid student I.D. at the ticket office on a first-come, first-serve basis."www.latechsports.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/031614aaa.html

In fairness to people in Ruston, they think that traveling to Shreveport is going a long ways. And New Orleans is on the other side of the world. Who is their coach and how long has he been at the school? From the writeup that I've read, like us they play with four guards.

If I read the four brackets correctly (small print), it looks like #7 seed, Boston U., will host #2 seed, Illinois. I guess Illinois' arena is probably hosting a tractor pull, that night.

Not impressed by the schedule of the Bulldogs, not even their OOC wins. The is a very winnable game and am expecting noting other than that....game by game. Let go gaels, scout hard and get prepared for the game. They beat Tulsa on the road too. They also have the 4th best scoring margin in the country at 14.7. They are a very good team.

how did they disrespect us, one guy asked about round 2, the next guy said i'll worry about it after iona, seems fine to me +1 I didn't read anything negative. If anything they are showing respect by looking at our numbers and understanding that it would not be a good night for them to be in a shooting slump. Sometimes respect is non-verbal.

If anything they are showing respect by looking at our numbers and understanding that it would not be a good night for them to be in a shooting slump. Sometimes respect is non-verbal. Didn't see any negative as well, actually they haven't said anything bad at all. A couple of thoughts about the game: 1. They are similar in size and game plan. 2. They have some quality wins and have lost several close games to quality teams (I.E. Oklahoma State)just like how we did against Kansas. 3. Hamilton and Appleby are top scorers. Both are guards, Appleby is 6'4 160 which means he is very skinny and most likely a lanky player like IW. Appleby looks like he is barely playing of recent, possibly an injury occurred during midseason. Missed 10 Games and lately hasn't played in a game more than 10 Minutes. Appleby was favorite to win Player of the Conference but Ankle Injury has sidelined him. He's just coming back into the rotation now which explains the missed games. 4. Hamilton is 6'4 180, looks like main go to guy on offense. 2nd leading scorer on the team. Can't shoot the three as his 3pt percentage is around 26%. 5. Anderson is 6'6 220, A little thicker on the inside presence. Averages around 12 Pts, 5.5 Rebounds a game. Looks to be Option 2 cause of Appleby injury. 6. The X factor for the game that iona has to watch out for is Kenyon McNeail, 6'1 Guard who shoots 41% from three and averages a little over 10 a game. Most of his points come from behind the arc and we need to focus on him. We can't let him run to the corner on fast breaks like Richards in the MAAC Final. 7. As a team LA TECH is shooting 32% from the 3 point line. 8. They play 4 guards and 1 big man like we do, size about the same, athleticism about the same. Our offensive players have more offensive production and I think we might have an edge. We have a good chance to win but we need to play our game and be smart.

Daily News online has story on St. Chicken in NIT and no mention of Iona. Goes onto mention Columbia in CIT, this infuriates me but doesn't surprise me. Since Sean Brennan left we have completly left the Daily News radar.

Lots of similarities between team...size wise, guard oriented, high scoring, outside shooting.....Expect high scoring game...If both teams have hot shooting nights the ''over'' could be 165 points...If one team is hot, the other could have a embarrassing night...A look at their schedule revealed that they played quite a few weaker teams, and a few better teams who were having down years...However scattered among them were a few good games against pretty good opponents... Hard game to fix a line...Could go either way, but IMO it will be a tight line... Note...They are not the Rajin Cajun's as sometimes mistakenly identified but are called the Bulldogs...Last season had a RPI of 51.....
Aside.....See the Saints are meeting Stoney Brook in one those lesser tournaments...Expect them to have a nice attendance as I think the game is up in Albany...

La Tech is a 7.5-point favorite.
