husker i disagree 100%, Plying in those arenas is much more important than playing on the maac channel. do you think kids have a better chance of hearing we are playing in one of those buildings or going ont he computer to see whats on the maac channel, when duke, kentucky and the knicks are on tv that night. Be patient cjb said, do you think we are going on a 10 yr run? if we get 0 games in yr 5 wheat do you think it will take?

Can't blame the staff for not prioritizing games in half empty buildings that would require ticket guarantees against less than stellar competition and eat away at our home schedule. Good decision in my mind.

I agree with 1970 (!!!!). But I also agree we shouldnt give up league games to play at the arenas.
I never understood why we couldn't get a 2-for-1 against Big State U with our 1 at MSG (or now Barclay). I'm sure it can be explained, but I'd sure like to hear it.

Iona1970 I think you missed my point a little. Build the brand and the powers that be will take notice and we get the game with a major program. I was referring to raising profile of the program to attract fans and not necessarily recruits, at least initially. I trust that Coach Cluess, President Nyre and The AD will find the best games OOC to set the table for the NCAA Tournament. If we can keep our RPI high we will be a desirable opponent for some major programs trying to make the Tournament.

Do you think that Butler has a ton of National fans now? Fans come from allegiance to the school (Graduates, kids went there, grew up in the city, etc.) My friends in Atlanta are huge sports fans. They went to Florida, Georgia, GW, FSU, etc. Even with my prompting, they never turned on an ESPN Iona game.

Coach Cluess and President Nyre have more the filled the scheduling expectation...There are 10 other teams in the MAAC, and we have out scheduled them by a wide margin with quality OOC opponents that as taken us on journeys of thousands of miles...And as far as I know,we have never shied from such a possible meeting. I have seen Iona opponents rise from Webb Naval Architect, Phila. Textile and Fort Slocum to Kentucky, Louisville, and Ohio State, and from bus and subway rides to jet airline trips...It has been a slow rise that has taken 70 years... I like you am hopeful the climb will continue, but am more then satisfied with the journey and the reputation that we have attained so far...

Guys, nothing would raise our profile better than an exciting NCAA victory. We need to win the MAAC, have a very good RPI, get a 12-13 seed, knock off a 3-4 seed (favorable pairing), and have a great 2nd game on the Sunday.

Agreed. Need to stay relevant every year and keep winning, hopefully squeeze out a big marquee win or two. That would be worth 100 wins at MSG or Barclay's for recruiting purposes.

(They have a same year home & home with UC Santa Barbara.) Hope we don't do one of those Christmas week games where nobody shows up. Think we have to leave 12/5-7 for MAAC.

Some of these local schools, like the University of North Korea, are buying their way into Barclays/MSG. For now, I'd rather we put our money into Hynes.
