Can't believe we will be playing at no. Texas on 11/23, coming home to play on Delaware st. On 11/26 then heading to Arkansas for 11/30 game.

Good point. Must be travel conflicts, otherwise would imagine we would've tried to schedule No Texas and Arkansas back-to-back before coming home to play Delaware St.

nick, do you think we should stay out there for the week? No but it seems like alot of back and forth travel. It must be scheduling conflicts that can't be avoided.

Just noticed on Guy's twitter feed that 4 of the 7 nyc teams are playing at both the Barclay center and MSG this year. Of course Iona is not playing in neither arena. That is completely ridiculous. Any ideas what the issue might be? It can only help recruiting to have a game a year at one of the arenas. I would think Iona would be a good attraction with the entertaining style of play

SID, is it possible that the Athletic Department will comment on this situation?

SID, is it possible that the Athletic Department will comment on this situation? Really. What can anyone expect them to say officially? I don't think it's anything more than not being in New York City, the Big East or A10. Plus size matters... other than the criteria just mentioned, those venues want schools that can bring more than modest attendance numbers. Patience. Iona will get its turn.

Iona has to spend money to play at those places, and they won't do it unless they are facing a name opponent.

Iona has to spend money to play at those places, and they won't do it unless they are facing a name opponent. If that's the case, I agree with Iona's stance 150%. Forfeiting an on campus home game (as we did a few seasons back) against a conference opponent (Siena), for a nearly 10PM tip-off on a frigid Tuesday night in January may have been one of the dumbest scheduling moves ever. All for the sake of playing at MSG? I don't think so.

Yes, but they still gotta get into MSG or Barclays here and there.

Agree. Had no idea there was a cost to play at MSG.

It would be nice to play in MSG or the Barclay, but I feel the best route to elevating the brand of Iona Basketball is thorough the television exposure on the ESPN channels. Our game last season in the opening round of the NIT against Louisiana Tech was classic exciting basketball and anyone watching that would certainly watch us again. Television loves Iona Basketball because it is exciting high scoring. ESPN will give us good time slots if the team continues to play high scoring basketball. The MAAC signing the deal with ESPN to have their own conference channel to televise the games across multiple platforms was a great move. If the conference teams continue to morph towards uptempo basketball we will benefit. Hopefully at some point we can get games with Hofstra as I see them on the rise and a good fit. The future is now and it's televised games across multiple platforms. We want MSG or the Barclay only if we play a BCS level school like Syracuse or UConn, not Fordham.
