We do have a Ladies team, and I think we have to balance scholarships by gender, in relation to the student population. A good question for the Athletic Department, and I'm guessing that if we add a Men's Lacrosse team, we have to add a Women's sport, also. I'm sure that SID knows.

In order to add a Men's Lacrosse Team, Iona would have to add another woman's sport or give out more scholarships to the current women's teams (if that is even possible). The gender equity is a huge reason why football (and hockey before it) were dumped. In addition to the money it would have taken just to upgrade the football program, the college would have had to match (and beyond) those funds among woman's sports.

Just what Iona needs is another non-revenue sport that carries at least a multiple of two in scholarship costs.
