OBSCURE IONA REFERENCE IN ARICLE ABOUT Marist VACANCY? "For everyone who wants to bash any MAAC school for bringing in junior college players or for being transfer heavy, they need to notice that schools like Quinnipiac and Fairfield are bringing in junior college players for a quicker fix." www.nycbuckets.com/2014/06/plenty-stake-next-marist-hire/

Kyle Smyth of Columba university is a candidate for head coaching position according to zagsblog. Would love to see him win the head coaching position.

If this is our Kyle Smyth, Marist considering their shattered and confused program for the better part of the last half dozen or so years could not do better then this fine level headed young man.....He would bring stability to a ''Chicken with no head'' program...Its patch work coaching attempts the past few years has produced nothing but utter failure...
At about 26 years of age, he would grow with the program, and re-vitalized its ambitions...He would certainly reverse the gathering of washed up has bens and never was that have used a once fine program as a stopping point to nowhere....
Marist is perfectly located as a stopping post for a MAAC team...It has a lovely campus, a fine fan base, and a better then average basketball facility. It needs a young vibrant coach...Good luck Kyle......

OT - Kyle SMITH is a candidate for the job. He's the Columbia coach and is one helluva coach. His recruiting at an Ivy has been pretty impressive as well.
Our Kyle Smyth is working for Willard at Seton Hall - looks like he may get the Director of Basketball Operations job - or video coordinator - or something along those lines.

Thanks Endwee.....Smith or Smyth has confused myself and other boarders for the past few years........
As a very long time fan I have since before Guerin's time always made it a point to meet and get to know our players...Kyle since our first meeting never failed to to come over and say a few words...
He rates high on my scale of what American youth should be...I see a bright future for him which appears to be an association with college basketball...

The Iona Syndrome is growing stronger with each passing season - Kim Anderson to Mizzou and Mike Maker to Marist. Wonder when the Gonzaga of Albany County will catch it.

Interesting hire. If he's able to keep everyone in the fold he could make something of this team.
