Don,
Welcome back and glad to hear you and your wife are doing well. Nice report.
One thing, before jpr takes you to dinner at Annabelle's, let me check with my dad and grandmother to be sure you have a reservation.
Keep the good news flowing...

Bill, I hope you know that JPR's family was in the business, also. But I must say that Anabelle's was the scene of my first 'restaurant' meal. Had a creme cheese and jelly sandwich. And a glass of milk. Must have been about 1945, and I was a guest of one of my sister's boy friends. Of course I put on a good word for him, but she married someone else, who was also from Eastchester/Tuckahoe.

Just glanced through the Fordham web site, and I must say they still don't get it. They play a very weak OOC sked, but are complaining that they might be playing LIU. A poster calls it a lose-lose game. If they win it's a yawner and if they lose it's a bad loss. While that is a true statement, it's only a bad loss for LIU. Just compare Fordham and LIU's record over the past ten years.

I find that board to be a fascinating read. Kind of like a reality TV show. You have some really good knowledgeable fans, but the board itself frequently teeters between the most grandiose optimism and complete self loathing regarding the men's basketball program. There is almost no middle ground. Few over there simply want to have a good basketball program. They either want to Fordham U. to rule the world with the men's basketball program as the spearhead of the "Fordham Brand" or they want to get out of the business altogether. I like the fact that we can read that board and comment openly. They read this board but are unable to openly acknowledge that because they need to pretend our program is far beneath their's. Its dysfunctional and kind of like having to go along with pretending your crazy uncle is Teddy Roosevelt rather than just committing the guy. Add to that Rambacker's transparent attempts to propagandize for the program at every opportunity and I'm inclined to want to call them North Korea U., at least as it relates to the basketball team. Endless source of entertainment.

CTBill, now now you can't call them NKU unless there is a Rodman sighting. ;-) Did you see that the Battle of the Bronx is going to be held in Brooklyn? I guess they think that playing the game in a more than half empty Barclays Center is better than playing it in the Bronx. Truly, for the good fans I feel their pain. They have suffered nearly as long as Cub fans have. But, some of them actually deserve it. A number of their posters are reasonable guys some of whom I know personally but too many of them still have some sort of ax to grind against Iona or Manhattan or anyone else local for that matter that is successful. Their National U. egotism is frightening at times. I don't have the figures, but I am guessing that Pecora has run off more players than any other college coach in the area over the past 4 years. And, every year he complains that they are young and people need to be patient. Can you say Snake Oil Salesman? :-)

I posted this early, but somehow it got lost...Briefly.........
Down at Hines this afternoon...Most of team there, but only one coach.......
I. Williams.....Confidence has finally arrived to match his talent...Will have an all MAAC year, and possibly beyond...
R. Hines...Has added muscle and maturity to body...Along with confidant outside shot...He feels year at academy school and year at Iona has made him ready to overcome weaker Alaskian competition...
D. Robinson.....Stated he tore is meniscus (guess spelling) last year and tried to come back to soon...Feels he will be ready shortly after season starts. Anxious.
Freshman point guard....Not as burley as Grimes but same ability to come out of a crowd with loose balls...Offensive minded with outside shot...
A.J. English.....Did not play...Pulled back muscle...Stated he will be back very soon...
Sledge.....No show....Your guess is as good as mine......
