Police in Ferguson bypass the stop and frisk, the choke-hold, and even the broom in the arse. They go right to bang-bang.
We like to keep things uncomplicated here in Missouri.
St.LouisGael...........
If you ever tried to effect an arrest on a subject who resisted, outweighed you by a hundred pounds and on a lonely street, who was attempting to take your gun, and was slowly getting the best of you, there would be little thought of that trump up liberal charge of no use of a ''Choke hold''...You would use any hold, and grab any body part you could while you prayed for back up units to arrive....................
Your retort posting reveals a very UNCOMPLICATED juvenile mind set...
Are you going to watch the fireworks that are sure to happen tonight in Fergenson?? I know you will enjoy watching Police Officers getting pushed around....
"...but I pray for the awakening of the past American courage, spirit, morality, care, ambition"
Then you post this:
"Be careful when you drive through Fergenson.... " How do you reconcile? How does the latter post reflect the Americancourage spirit, morality and care we all fought for?[/p]
Super..............Fergenson was a fair warning....It exploded again last night.......Then...I pray for my country.....What has one got to do with other?...You obviously are blinded by a mindset that absolutely refuses to rationalize any other then that which has been somehow implanted to see only a typical liberal ultra point of view.....It as begun to be more and more obvious that such a view is pleased with, encourages and agrees with those that are being led to grow more and more violent...
I have been blessed with a firm sense of History and with it a strong look at the future It gives...It is not bright, and I see it as my duty to attempt to get it back on the road that has once led to a highway of greatness...
I see once again you for some reason seemed necessary to remind us that you to also served....Watching Viet Nam memorial services the other day I prayed along for those that served, and those 50.000 that sacrificed...I am sure you will do the same for the 500,000 that gave the ultimate sacrifice in WW2...

Ferguson, that is Ferguson, did not explode last night.
And they are supported by some smart police work. You do remember that St. Louis Police Chief pulled his police out of Ferguson because of the "over the top" police tactics being used there. Now he has a chance to see how his approach works.

I hope he is more qualified then that Highway Patrol Capt. they brought in a week or so ago in a misguided attempt at appeasement..
A fair well trained Police Force with a experienced crowd control Commander and a understanding of the leaders and issues will go a long way dealing with the problems that will occur.....

Good morning OT Still don't see how you can reconcile the intent of your comment about driving through Ferguson with your comment about the "American courage, spirit, morality and care..." Seems to me the intent was the exact opposite. Oh well!
I resent being labeled "liberal" (or any labeling) although the manner in which you use that word reflects that you also "are blinded by a mindset that absolutely refuses to rationalize any other then that which has been somehow implanted...". Labeling has quite a bit to do with the polarization that has resulted in nearly all of America being hardened into red and blue strongholds, united only by mutually irreconcilable philosophical mores, and paying attention to only the news doled out by their own team. Don't recall anyone labeling you on this board.
I feel sad that you retain no optimism for our great country. I do, since I have had regular contact with thousands of young men and women whose future has been shaped by all of our actions. We are in good hands. (Or at least as good as those in the past.) You yourself have experienced this with your contact with the Iona players.
If you reread my statement, there is no mention of service, Instead I referred to the American courage, spirit, morality and care "we all" fought for, attempting to include the millions of American citizens who "fought" for various human rights over the past 200+ years and who exemplified the American spirit along the way as they tried to improve our country for its ever-changing population of citizens. Regardless of your misinterpretation of my comment, I can assure you I do pray regularly, particularly for my relatives and friends who lost their lives in WWII and Vietnam. My only wish is that there be no more of those for anyone to need to pray for. (I guess I'll be labeled Naïve like CTBill. )
Finally, my family includes several law enforcement officials, all of whom I have the ultimate respect for as they risk their lives daily to insure a safe community for all of us. Even they, however, acknowledge that there are those among their ranks whose actions precipitate calamities unnecessarily.
Still friends? I'll be up for a few games again this year and look forward to seeing you!
Super.....Of course still friends...If I became a enemy with all that have different opinions then I would have a life of boredom...I have no animosity with those that call me a conservative, I do have trouble with those that resent being called a liberal...That to me is very hard to understand.....
I knew when I started on this subject that it would be very controversial but it was a very slow posting time, and needed something to spice up the waiting time until seasons start...That it did...but I now hear the whistle blowing.....
Team shaping up very nicely, I pray the same for our beleaguered Nation...

Labeling is the short-cut to dismiss someone's ideas without any analysis. Very few people in my experience are 100% conservative or liberal in view. Most people are more complex; there is more nuance in life than that. But if you have a radio talk show or TV show and want to rile people up, whether you come from the "conservative" part of the spectrum or "liberal" an effective and easy way is to label someone and mis-characterize that person's philosophy to pander to your audience's anger. As OT points out there is nothing new under the Sun as this tactic has been used throughout history. Speaking of history a great American once said "There is nothing to fear, but fear itself."

ISIS is on the doorsteps of BAGDHAD and is ready to engulf the rest of Iraq and Syria with its ragtag army, equipment and scare tactics which can be destroyed by determination and will within a month...
Ebola has gained a foothold in our country, and incompetents are in charge with political decisions running rampart over common sense medical ones...
Our boarders are wife open, and if Ebola gains a foothold in Mexico or South America it will unleash thousands crossing a open boarder to seek treatment and refuge from its deadly surge...
The stock market has crashed losing aprox. 1,000 points the past week and most predict this is only the beginning...
8 Police officers have been shot since the incident at Ferguson has been shamelessly exploited by professional agitators...
Our crooked politicians rule with little to fear as those that also remain fear complicity exposure...
I am reminded of recent posters that asked...''We are in good hands'' ''Who are those that are trying to gain control of our lifestyle'' ''Things are better then they ever were''.....
Then I wonder if I to should also bury my head into the sands of reality and let history teach its sometimes terrible lessons....

This is a little something, especially for OT from Parkway West High Jazz Choir (HS Juniors and Seniors). They feel the OT pain. Same generation OT visits with and speaks so highly of on Iona Campus. I think we are headed towards good hands. Recorded by slg.
This is a little something especially for St.Louie Gail.....................
There are aprox, 350 million people in the USA....In order to give a response, you found among them on You Tube what appears a fine group of about a dozen youths and you thought...'This will show OldTimer what this country is all about''
I would expect a more thoughful response from even a minor school student...It has little relativity expect to satisfy the urge to respond...To suggest that I am unaware that there are millions off fine people in our country is insulting...
