According to Zagsblog, a top recruit, Isiah Briscoe will pick tomorrow between SJU, UCONN and Kentucky, on ESPNU. Glad we don't have to deal with this drama Agreed. who needs the stress. Great time to be a Gaels fan !!

As much as I hate St. Chicken it may be good for us if they get Briscoe. If not they may be inline for a coaching change at the end of the season and Cluess has a chance.

Cluess is going to leave someday. We have no control over when that happens. In the mean time we have a game Friday. No use worrying/speculating over things we cannot control.

What exactly would they bust your balls about. Or is your comment just meant to highlight the recent failures of Lavin's tenure? I mean just what would they bust your balls about? The fact that they have made the dance two out of the last three years and we haven't. I would never bust an Iona fan's chops over their hoops squad. That would be like people in glass houses throwing stones.
And it's certainly not a done deal that Cluess will be the next coach, although I would certainly not mind it. And if it happens at all it would be in 2016. A Catholic school can't afford to buy out millions of dollars in contracts that are owed for 2115-2016.

I can't see how St Johns doesn't go after Massielo

tau, Massielo's age, certainly works in his favor.

I can't see how St Johns doesn't go after Massielo Massiello's "return contract" with Manhattan likely makes him ebola-like to any school thinking of poaching him.
His buy-out is probably a kings ransom at this point.

They bust my balls about my appreciation of and admiration of Tim cluess.....and although they bust em , they all seem to believe he will be the next coach at sju (basically they are now starting to see him as a good coach) and for the record I am just as big a fan of sju as I am iona......

tiger, sounds like you're more a fan of Providence than St. John's. Is that correct?

According to Zagsblog, Briscoe has made up his mind and will announce his decision, today, but won't sign until the Spring. IMO, that sounds like SJU is his choice, and he wants to see if Lavin will still be the coach. Of course that argument could be made for Ollie and Caliapari, but they would be leaving of their own accord. So my guess is SJU.

Tiger, thanks for clearing that up. And Super, the Daily News article on SJU mentions that Thomas and DLR were probably not big in SJU's plans for this year. And while that might be true about DLR, a freshman, it makes no sense that Thomas, a junior, wouldn't get major minutes. Especially with their "thin-ness" up front.
