I will disagree with several posters in this thread. I don't think Patsos is a good coach. I think he's very average.

I also think his behavior, though humorous at times, tends to be a distraction. When he pulls a player in less than a minute there can be no purpose to that other than showing a kid up.

Regarding Patsos I think he has real some personality issues that at times gets the better of him, but it seems when it really counts the guy is at his best. Regarding Iona I agree we are the best team in the league, regular season and tourney. If we play our best game we won't loose the season title or the tourney IMHO. Just keep in mind we have a target on our backs and we're going to get every teams best effort every night. Go Gaels!

The bottom line is that despite all his success at Iona, Cluess has not done well as the favorite. Remember that our only NCAA trip came with his WEAKEST team. I honestly have no doubt we will finish first, be it 15-5 or 18-2 or whatever. I need to see that he can take the best team and play at a high level for 3 straight games against teams that are quite frankly inferior, even though we could be on one of the teams' home floor.

[/quote] Although I think Siena is one of above average teams in the MAAC, I also think that we sometime become carried along with the fantasy of their fans...A serious study of their teams players, and record will lead to a more realistic view...Last year they were no better then a .500 team...They managed to reach the 20 win mark by virtue of their victory's in a very minor Tourny where most of the teams were also in the .500 range... Their high rated home court advantage was a major factor to the so-so success they had...Without this advantage IMO they would have been no better then a mid-MAAC team... As to Coach Patsos...He also although likeable has been no more then a coach with a very moderate record who also been hyped beyond performance... I see them no better then 12-8 in the MAAC and with woefully week OOC Schedule the possibility of no more then a 20 win season and another visit to a minor tournament..
