I know, I know this isn't BB related but it is Iona sports related, and Kate's accomplishment should not be relegated to the secondary type threads, which are not read by everyone. And I've asked this question, but haven't seen the answer. Kate is the first female winner, but there has been a male winner of an NCAA title. Who is it? Did Bill Martin (track) win a title? Not knowing this I had Winning an NCAA championship on my Bucket list, which I'll now change to Winning an NCAA Team championship. And of interest to Kate's win, was that one of Mick Byrne's runners came in second.

Congrtas to Kate. A dominant victory! - '59 - how soon we forget! Leonard Korir won the indoor 5K and outdoor 10K national championship way back in 2011!

greg, thanks. I remember last week and the 1940's and everything in between is kind of hazy. Leonard was a great runner and to win both in and out doors is outstanding, as well. But keep in mind that in a track meet there are a number of races, but in X-C there is only one, so I have to put Kate's win as #1.
P.S. Thinking more about both runners, I'm now putting their accomplishments on the same level, since Leonard didn't even have a track to train on. At least not a home track.

True, not a home track, but I believe they do some of their training at the Armory, which is a terific indoor track.
