After the Florida G.C. game I had a little talk with Hines...I teased him as I usually do and told him he finally showed a much needed positive aggressiveness and to go up with a little anger while rebounding... He has had 26 rebounds in his last 3 games...Probably more then he has in the past year and change...It has added a much needed dimension to the team...He is a very nice young man who looks like he has finally begun to mature... He no longer hangs outside the rebounding circle but is getting fine inside positioning which has made a world of difference... Is the flower finally started to bloom?

Congratulations to Coach Tim Cluess on D1 level win #100.
Pat Lyons rolled the dice with his hire and scored a "7".
If Iona is serious in its effort to pursue a Stony Brook type facility, TC will be the key cog in getting it done.

Congrats to TC! Quite the accomplishment. Reasonable minds will rank TC no worse than 2nd on the Iona modern era (post McDermott) coaching list, with only an elusive NCAA win or some more longevity standing between him and the top spot: 1. Valvano 2. Cluess 3. Kennedy 4. Ruland 5. T Welsh 6. Willard 7. Brokaw 8. J Welsh Great ranking IMO. I would stop ranking after 5 though.

ichoops you obviously didn't see Jerry Welsh coach Well I saw him from across the gym on occasion. Savvy look to him. Sort of mix between IC59 and Oldtimer.

He was a great coach sorry you disagree. I was fortunate to see him in action. 7-20.

Congratulations to Coach Cluess. I continue to be amazed that Iona was able to hire a coach of this quality and keep him here. Thanks coach!

As much as I love TC you're talking about ranking him above a legendary coach who transformed Iona from nothing into a relevant program with national respect, and who coached the most talented and most winning team in the program's history along with the only NCAA win to date. Not saying he can't surpass valvano, but tough to put him there right now IMO. I agree with you here, love Cluess, but you can't put him ahead of Valvano, yet!

I would say Grasso might be our best assistant ever. He's been a recruiting work horse.

Willard??? That cheater??? Grasso brought in Optimus, and TC brought in Grasso. TC also brought in Sean, I believe. It's true Willard got Scott, but TC has done just fine since. Also the MAAC has been one of the better RPI mid majors since I have been following Iona. (e.g. since Cluess was hired). Can't put Cluess ahead of Jimmy V though.

I do not and will never understand the disgust for Willard. Took us from 2 to 21 wins in 3 years. Yeah, he left, but he got paid more. And let's not forget Cluess was out the door too not long ago. Difference was the pres.
