Kelvin Amayo played the point last night at times and it freed up A.J. and Casimir (both are better shooters than Amayo) he played very well (a very good handle for a guy who is built like a linebacker) .This might be our new set offensively..as I watched this unfold I'm thinking , wow , this MIGHT be the best way to go from this point moving forward..I'm really getting confident with the possibility that we win the maac and even win a game or maybe 2 in big dance ...and with Amayo at the point, we might have tweaked the engine just right to maximize our ability to make this one helluva march ....

tiger, b/t/w, I shoot better than Kelvin. Well maybe not, but you get my point. I do believe that his o/s shot will improve with the upcoming offseason, and when we can spread the floor with great o/s shooters, it does open up the middle and it's very hard to stop his drives to the basket. His problem, as a PG, are two-fold, imo. One is his decision making, two, is his passing. A couple of times he did not get the ball to AJ in a 'place' where he could get his shot off quickly, but rather the pass was off center causing a hesitation/miss on AJ's shots. It is possible that he can improve in this area, but he's not there yet. However, your point is a good one.

We need Amayo to bring the ball up against pressure. No one on the team is better at that job. In the half court he did a good job against pressure, especially in avoiding the half court trap that Manhatan snared AJ in repeatedly. Amayo has big talent, and I really like him running the point for stretches.
Just have him bring the ball up against the press. My heart is in my mouth when Cluess has AJ do that.

Article on coach's view of Kelvin: www.nycbuckets.com/2015/04/iona-asking-more-from-kelvin-amayo-offseason/Would love to see him coming off the bench, giving 3-4 minutes each to IW, AJ, & Casimir. Start Washington & Bessick and bring in Rountree to spot them. McGill is the all around fill-in. Still have Hines, Much, Ibn, Bebis, Robinson --or who knows coming off the bench. Lots of depth here.
