I would imagine we are Due to hear some news very soon. Is he still visiting Syracuse and or Uconn, or is he ready to make a decision? I would imagine teams are hoping for a decision by July 1, would sure liven up a quiet June board.

I know we are all anxious for Paschal Chukwu's decision. I assume that the young man will be making this decision over the next three days... so please keep him in your prayers so that he makes the best decision for himself.

Well I sure hope he makes the right decision and he is happy with it, whatever it is. We need guys who are talented and gifted like Paschal, but we also need guys who want to be here. All the best to everyone involved come what may.

After reading the various hoops forums for the programs Pascal visit and some of the articles by self reported "inside" bloggers, it is clear that while all of these schools want Pascal they see him as nothing more then a defensive stopgap for the middle of their zones. If this is how their staffs think I do not think he will get the chance to develop a complete game that he would get at Iona. While it might be exciting to play at a Syracuse or MSU, I don't think it would be too exciting if I only get minutes when we drop into a zone defense or the only time I see the ball is when I block a shot. If he chooses one of these BCS programs I hope their fans and bloggers are wrong regarding how they utilize his skills. While the BCS schools have a strong media following... think of the media attention he would get if he led Iona to the Sweet 16. He has a lot to think about... I am sure it is a tough decision.

Well one thing I think to feel good about is that we're different than every other school on his list. Its like two different buckets with several "big time" programs in one, and us in the other. So if he decides that a smaller school is a better fit, then its us and no one else at this point, unless I am mistaken. Otherwise he needs to choose from several BCS programs. It depends upon what he is looking for, to state the obvious.

If he wants to develop an all-round game he needs to go to a non-BCS school. Otherwise as noted he will be used to protect the rim and potentially be recruited over. I have to believe he is an educated consumer this second time around. Time will tell. No matter what his interest helps to draw attention to program by potential recruits. If he lands at Iona we need to thank Momo Jones for giving credibility to school as a landing spot for high level transfers. Keeping my fingers crossed.

[/quote] Very insightful post 86......Paschal had a so-so first year at Providence...If he decides to become a shot blocking defensive type, then the BCS is the route he should travel, but if he wishes to develop his all around game then he should lean to Iona... He has already spent a wasteful year at Providence...His decision to be either 'Fish or Fowl' is his to make..... One could lead to a satisfying college carrier, the other possibly beyond.......

As reported earlier, Pascal has been spending much time daily working on his overall strength and conditioning. He is committed to personal improvement. When I see his list of options, I can't help but recall Jeff Ruland's decision-making. He had narrowed it down to UNC, Kentucky, and Iona. I thought we were a throw-in. As it turned out, Jeff's decision took our already improved program to heights never imagined by fans at that time. I hope Pascal recognizes that he has the same opportunity Jeff had--to put an extremely improved program over the top. His game is very different from Jeff's. But, like Jeff, he will improve every one around him and will have a great supporting cast. I don't believe he has the same opportunity to make such a difference with any of the other fine programs he is considering.
Good luck to him, regardless of his decision.

Well (I think I'm going to the "Well" too often we have the Nets' Director of Player Development on video saying Iona is a good program, so we got that going for us, which is nice.
