Interesting that he didn't list Iona as a strong OOC opponent. They worked us over last year and they're expecting to be very good, so I doubt the see us as much of a threat. They don't know we're a Nov-Dec team.

Thought NJ was "local." Specifically titled the thread "New York" hoops, but having said that feel free to discuss any team you wish. As you know Super, I don't levy tyrannical thread oversight against posters. So feel free to give us KP's SH, Rutgers, FF, Quinny numbers, whatever. When I think of NYC hoops specifically, for my era back to 1980, that's SJ's, Iona, Fordham, Manhattan, and LIU. Not even Hofstra, even though they made the dance twice in the 1990's under Jay Wright. Missed the thread title when you identified the "locals." Did you miss the ? Anyhow, in the good old days of the late 60s and 70s, SHU (Bill Raftery) was definitely in the local mix along with St Peters (Don Kennedy, Bob Dukiet) . Both had great coaches.

Good News/Bad News/Funny News: The Good (Seton Hall) Isiah Whitehead has 40 points in a win. The Bad (Seton Hall) struggles to defeat Baruch (CUNY), 84-79, in an exhibition. Their PG, IW, has three assists. Fans already calling for KW's head. The Funny (Siena). Their fans are already in mid-season form, by worrying about their first game (Duke) and how the refs will screw them. But are also focusing on the MAAC finals, and how they can/will beat Iona. Tony alone is worth the price of admission, but as a supporting actor, MTS isn't bad. The Good and Bad News-SJU's Red-White scrimmage. I don't know what to make of it. Is it possible that the greatest player in school history can have the same record in his first season, as the the greatest player in Iona history had in his last season at his alma-mater?

The Good and Bad News-SJU's Red-White scrimmage. I don't know what to make of it. Is it possible that the greatest player in school history can have the same record in his first season, as the the greatest player in Iona history had in his last season at his alma-mater? Was it 2-29, 59? Yes, this is possible. But better his first year then his last. Was at the scrimmage. A real disaster. They looked well coached but they are devoid of talent. Don't understand the optimism on JJ, RM, and the Rumble.

[/quote] No OT, what he was saying was that Ruland was the coach of that 2-29 team, I think it was in 07'or 08', and that that it was his last year as coach. Mullin's first year, I think, could be that bad. But look at what Iona has done since then. So I said "better his first year then his last."
