People who know a lot more about BB, than I do, say that while Neubauer is a vg coach, he's not a good fit for Fordham. And I'll admit I don't know what they mean by that. And seeing that SJU is involved with so many high level recruits, I think they'll be pretty good in a few years. If they approach .500 this year I'll be very impressed with CM.And I guess the same is true with Fordham (the .500 part). Yes he is a very good coach with some good players. Maybe they mean that he won't stay long if he has success, because he is not a Northeast guy.

I think they mean in the past NB relied on a lot of jucos and transfers, and Fordham won't allow him to do that. I'm not sure about the latter part of the statement. Fordham has actually taken many partial qualifiers in the past decade or so. Many. And what have they needed to qualify? 13 passed courses in HS, and 700 SAT's? They couldn't achieve that and they got into Fordham? Agree. Some Fordham fans like to portray the Rams as pure as the driven snow. While they are only slightly pregnant, schools like Iona and Manhattan are in their second trimester, according to these guys. Some how that is moral high ground. So this is generally losers talk and it always has been.

IONA86, I've been reading the Seton Hall board, and it seems that their fans have mixed opinions about Mike Nzei, who I believe was one of your favorite potential recruits. My question, does he fit better in a TC (up tempo) or in a KW (slow tempo) offense?

My question, does he fit better in a TC (up tempo) or in a KW (slow tempo) offense? If they have questions/issues with Nzei's development they should look no further than Willard. This kid is a freak when it comes to athleticism and he is a ridiculous rebounder and a very good shot blocker. He gets off the floor as quickly as anyone I have ever seen. He was very raw when he first arrived at Our Savior New American but after two years of high school ball he was averaging 14 points and 10 rebounds a game. Nzei produced those numbers when he was not their main target offensively as he was playing with Damon Wlson (PG at Pitt), Kassoum Yakwe (PF SJU) and Cheick Diallo (PF/C Kansas). He can run the court, has very good hands, has a decent shot but he is a bit undersized (6'7" and 200lbs) as a PF in the Big East... he needs to work on his handle, put on muscle and refine is ability to create for himself. With that said Nzei Dominated the boards at the 2013 Adidas Nations Tournament going up against players like Jalil Okafor (Duke/76ers), Trey Lyles (Kentucky/Jazz) Kevon Looney (UCLA/Warriors) and Reid Travis (Stanford)... Nzei would be better suited to TC's offense because he played a running game when representing Africa. In the MAAC he could have had a great offensive career just running the baseline looking for alley-oops and getting put-backs. He needs playing time to develop the skills he needs at this point... If he refines his jumper and handle he would be one hell of a combo forward. He is reported to be a fast learner and to have a great work ethic. If he could have redshirted a year at Iona and had the chance to practice with Laury, IW and Bessick in a running offense... I wonder how far he could have developed? IMHO, in Willards style he will never reach his potential as he will be used as a defender and a rebounder. Willard will always give the minutes and focus to Angel Delgado since he was a Top 100 recruit. Delgado is a better shooter and a wide body. This is why I thought Nzei would be better served playing for Iona or Hofstra. He would have had the chance to develop in a better environment. Willard needs to win now. I do not think he is very concerned with developing players for two years out. If he wins Nzei could get recruited over. If Willard does not win Nzei will get stuck in a coaching change. He would have had far more stability with Cluess or Mihalich. I hope I am wrong as he seems like a great young man.

Interesting that he didn't list Iona as a strong OOC opponent.

Interesting that he didn't list Iona as a strong OOC opponent. They worked us over last year and they're expecting to be very good, so I doubt the see us as much of a threat.

Thought NJ was "local." Specifically titled the thread "New York" hoops, but having said that feel free to discuss any team you wish. As you know Super, I don't levy tyrannical thread oversight against posters. So feel free to give us KP's SH, Rutgers, FF, Quinny numbers, whatever. When I think of NYC hoops specifically, for my era back to 1980, that's SJ's, Iona, Fordham, Manhattan, and LIU. Not even Hofstra, even though they made the dance twice in the 1990's under Jay Wright.
