Furious Rick Pitino Adamant Media Trying To Tarnish Name Of Great Escort Service
SPORTS NEWS IN BRIEF October 7, 2015 VOL 51 ISSUE 40 Sports · College Basketball LOUISVILLE, KY—Following the publication of a book alleging that a member of the school’s basketball department paid women to perform sex acts for recruits, furious University of Louisville head coach Rick Pitino told reporters Wednesday that the media was trying to tarnish the name of a great escort service. “No one, I repeat no one, in the Cardinals community has anything but good things to say about these ladies, and it’s absolutely shameful to see their names get dragged through the mud,” said an enraged Pitino, blasting news outlets for maliciously attacking the reputation of a highly regarded, hardworking escort service. “To say I’m disgusted and disappointed with the way the press has recklessly tried to cast aspersions on this escort service would be an understatement. Say what you will about me, I’m the coach of this team, but I won’t stand for the media smearing these women and the outstanding services they provide.” Pitino added that he was confident the university’s independent investigation would find grounds for legal action against members of the press for defamation of the escort service’s character. Who got smeared again?

In my long career in Law Enforcement...I have never investigated a escort service that sex was not for sale...If it was not and those that patronize it would not expect it, then it would soon go out of business....
I have found that Escort Service is just a fancy name for prostitution...
Pitino sounds like a spoiled child trying to bulldoze his way out of a jam of his own doing...Did he not think he was treading on dangerous ground or did he think he was beyond it.....

A shame. The Louisville situation hurts the current players not those responsible. For everyone faulting Coach Cluess about defense and adjustments, be thankful he has run his program the way he has. Posters on other Boards like to take pot shots at Iona, but the reality is that other than David Laury's issue last year there have been minimal problems off the court. I credit Coach Cluess with setting high expectations and the team understanding bad behavior/decisions will not be tolerated. No special treatment. Coaches unfortunately only seem to get credit for the on-court performance and not the off-court performance/success. Thankfully the Iona College administration and Dr. Nyre understand, appreciate and support Coach Cluess. Coach Cluess appears to appreciate the relationship and at this point in his career understands enjoy the good times while they last. Hoping that continues.

Well said Husker.
Cluess has run a clean program and has brought in great kids for the most part. The program has essentially self-policed itself since Cluess first got here, which is a great thing. Anytime we've had a disciplinary issue it's been dealt with in-house by the staff or administration, without letting it get to a point where intervention is needed from outside bodies. There's something to be said about that, especially when programs like Monmouth sweep things under the rug and keep their fingers crossed that the MAAC or NCAA police don't come after them.
The Laury situation was a perfect example BTW. Was totally blown out of proportion and a minor scuffle, but the headlines were ugly and the staff took matters into their own hands and said it wouldn't be tolerated.
Compared to previous Iona regimes, we should be thankful that coach Cluess is steering the ship.
