Spent the weekend at UNC watching the Gaels in the Hall of Fame challenge. Came away very impressed. Team is a work in progress, but will be very competitive in the MAAC. Considering the turnover at Qunni and the problems at Marist, this team has a chance to surprise this year. Fairfield will also be very good, but not unbeatable. We will get an early look at them December 2. Just like the men, teams with length will cause a problem, but you don't want to run with this team. If they develop more consistent shooting they will be very good. Freshman Alexis Lewis is the real deal and will only get better. Two other Freshmen will also contribute - Treyanna Clay and lida Ahvenainen (From Finland). Lizarazu, Joy, and Aaliyah are all terrific. Looked like a couple of players may be a little banged-up. Got off to a bad start against Yale and never were able to make a serious run at them. Worst game of the weekend. Played very well against a 14th ranked (A little over-rated) UNC. UNC also has some great rookies and in the end were too big and too good for the Gaels. They Hammered a tired and out-manned FDU team. Still have a ways to go, but I'm optimistic about this team!

Super, thanks. That move by Marina was a thing of beauty. On Thursday, long time MAAC champ, Marist, took down the defending champ, Quinniipiac, but I don't know where the game was played.

greg, including a win over "Q" the defending champ. Brian Giorgis is a great coach.

The Ladies' team is flying under the radar, but seem to be rounding into shape. Despite playing a tough OOC sked, VCU, USC, and NC, they are 5-6, with a game tomorrow at George Washington. Coming off a road win at St. Joe's, another A10 team, I have no idea how good GW is, but we have a shot at entering 'real' league play, with a close to .500 record. And more importantly, they are fairly healthy. Good Luck, Ladies!

Women dropped a five point game to GWU, yesterday, on the road. Phillecia Gilmore, a soph, led the Lady Gaels with a career high, I believe, 18 points. Playing a VG team tough, and on the road, should give Gael fans hope. Marina Lizarazu had eight steals, which I think is third, All Time for the Lady Gaels. The team doesn't seem to have a scoring leader, to go along with Joy Adams' rebounding and Marina's assisting, but it seems that a new scoring leader emerges in every game. They've come a long way.

greg, not talking about moral victories. It's all about measuring where the team is, compared to the start of the season. And excuse the post, if you were just kidding.
