With AJ, Isaiah and Rountree gone, I think some schools that have avoided Iona in recent years will be more open to scheduling games against us next season, believing we will not be as dangerous.

I think Iona should be in a GREAT spot for some big Guaranteed $ games. We are always a top 100 rpi team, that does not win out of our building. I hope Cluess gets us some $ road games, (Wichita, Dayton, Creighton, power5 etc.) and a couple of home games against locals. Rumors about great Alaskan-shoot out? (not that excited about that, take it or leave it)

Looks like Portland may also be part of the Alaska Shootout: Not a bad three games if it turns out to be Weber State, Portland, and Nevada on our schedule.

They've been in for a while. How long? A loss to Nevada or Weber St...will hurt our RPI moderately...A loss to Portland would destroy it....A victory over all would add little if anything to it....Those three games along with 3 other at home games that are the most times relative easy victories display a need for the remaining 3 OOC games to be scheduled against stronger opponents...... IMO Cruiss has realized that it takes time to coordinate a team with 6 or 7 new comers on it, and will schedule accordingly... Does the Alaska tourney count as 1 game or are they individual counted games? If we have 2 extra games to schedule, I hope they are with 2 north eastern area teams of consequence...

I believe they call it an exempt Tourney, so counts as one game. Do we play the host college as well? Anchorage or fairbanks? I hope we play some big $ games to pay Cluess and Grasso well.
Rumors? of ooc scheduled games. 1)Nevada? Neutral Court- Mountain West school, we beat them in New Ro in a bracket buster game the year we got the "at large". lost to them on their court 2 years later. Like this game. 2)Portland? Neutral Court- They are in the St. Mary's, Gonzaga, BYU, Santa Clara Conf. I believe Iona played them once( way before my time) and lost. Neither Neg or positive about this game. 3)Weber St. Neutral court- Big Sky. Don't think we ever played them and I don't have any interest starting now. Don't like this game. 4) Princeton- ? gym- Ivy team we have had 0% success beating, Love to pick up our first win against them. Like this game. 5) Fordham - ? gym- A-10 doormat no more? When the Rams left the Maac, We still played them EVERY year. from 1990-2006 we played them 17 times(11-6 iona) Love to sched them again for another long run. Like this game 6) Delaware- Away game. Colonial, a conference I think we could schedule some more games against, but Delaware doesn't jump out at ya. Could be better, could be worse. Neither neg or positive about this game. 7)Texas Southern- Away. SWAC. if this is a return game from last year, the only positive might be a $ game from Longhorns, Baylor, a&m, tech, tcu etc...while we are in the state. Don't like this game.
Sum it up Good- Nevada, Princeton, Fordham Neutral- Portland, Delaware Bad- Weber St. Texas Southern

Don't think we will play Fordham. Was there a severe change of heart for this match-up?

For those interested, every time a local writer tweets about St. Johns- I responded by asking if they will ever play Iona again. If you are on Twitter and feel the need, please join in

SJU will play us only if we become a cupcake. For Iona, an SJU game recently would have hurt our RPI. Not interested.
