Rumor has Drake Bulldogs going to the Great Alaskan Shootout. So far besides the host team the field is Iona, Drake, Nevada and Weber St. 3 more teams to be named.

Drake sounds like an RPI killer.

Drake sounds like an RPI killer. I don't know, I kinda like when he shows up at the Cavs games.

Drake a mid 300 RPI with last season record of 7-24.....Unless they get lucky we have a chance of being one of the tourney favorites ...They drew pretty good teams in years gone by, but appears to be a ''Take what we can get tourney'' now...

[/quote] we had this discussion already, the tournament has been a mid major tournament for the last couple of years, only 2 or 3 halfway good teams in those years

Really do not have a problem with playing in the Alaska tournament. Will probably have a couple good MM programs, chance to win a couple of games while TC gets the team to gel, as there will be many new players. Also gives Iona a 31 game schedule, 2 more games than last year.

We started off last season clearly not ready...1ST game lost by 25 points to Valpo at their home...We followed that with a 20 point loss to Oregon State at their home...That was probably Iona's worst start ever...The Alaska tourney will allow this years team a much better chance to come together especially at a 1 exception neutral court and the mediocre competition, which so far we have the advantage of having the best RPI... If we are coming home right after the tourney we have a excellent chance of getting off to a flying start.....

Have to remember we were playing with two players at the beginning of this past season who each had serious injuries.

There was a rumor that Portland was in the great Alaskan shootout as well? Don't think everyone is giving Drake enough credit. They play in the Missouri Valley, while not a major, is very innovative. The MV were the driving force behind the Bracket busters, which I sorely miss, got us some good home games and got us an at large. Another thing the Miz Valley is doing is setting up a Miz Valley VS Mount west challenge, ala the big 10 VS acc. The Maac should do a MAAC VS (AM. EAST, or NEC, or IVY, patriot, or CAA).

Siena is playing a road game at FGCU on 12/9. Would love to see us play them again.
