Was just asked by a college hoops writer, about a crazy tweet by Mathew Steinbrink, who covers PITT basketball. He tweeted that 6'7'' Samson George, from First Loves prep will be visiting PITT, and is down to them and St. Bonaventure.
Does he have the wrong player?
Did George leave the program, and that's where the extra scholarship is coming from?
Really hope this is not true.

Samson's former Rens/First Love Christian teammate and fellow Nigerian, 7'1" Chris Efretuei, just visited Pitt.

Very strange situation. Numerous tweets from writers covering PITT hoops, that George is visiting there this Saturday.

Didn't George sign a letter of intent? If so we would have to give him his release and if that's the case I'm surprised we haven't heard even a hint about this.

Now the guy Steinbrink, who posted the original tweet, is posting on the PITT board that Iona needed to clear a scholarship and George was the way to achieve that goal. Very hard to believe the staff would run off George, when he filled a very important role. I guess we will find out the deal this weekend, if there are reports that George is visiting the PITT campus. Was told PITT recruited George and Siena recruit Prince Oduro, but never offered. Apparently, PITT had kids transfer and are in need of bodies. Still find it hard to believe this is true

Seems like this is a very similar situation to Cam Beidscheid a few years back. Commmitted and a few weeks later had writers on twitter going over his visits to other schools which no one was aware of

Commmitted and a few weeks later had writers on twitter going over his visits to other schools which no one was aware of I think the big difference is that George is enrolled at Iona, and practiced with the team while on scholarship for an entire semester. The staff has invested a scholarship and practice time so far.

Agreed, the whole situation doesn't make any sense. The fact that the coach of First love prep re-tweeted he is visiting PITT this weekend, makes it look like there might be something to this. I guess we will know in a couple of days

Anyone remember Clyde Vaughn?
NRHS kid, too chubby for Pat Kennedy.
Went on to Pitt and held the BE scoring record for years.

Who knows what happened? If we did indeed "run him off" Then that would hint that there is somebody better that we are ready to sign?
