Slow day...Another OT Story...With the greatest storm ever in recorded history about to hit the GULF coast and Atlantic seabord this came to mind.
It was late 1944. We were one of hundreds of ships in a Guam seaport. We were ready for a destination unknown to us when we were told that the armada was going only 100 miles to Saipan. The trip would take no more than a day.
During the night and early morning, we ran into a horrible storm. The winds reached 190 mph. It took six days to reach Saipan. When the full fury of the storm hit, we were told to secure all watertight doors. When a wave passed, it raised the bow over 30 feet in the air and it came down with a tremendous bang and shaking. Many ships, due to the sudden impact, broke into sections at the welding spots, sending the sections in all directions. They were later recovered with some serviceman still on them, still alive.....
Needless to say, I very seasick was one of the first to get off the ship, regardless of the dangers ahead.
My prayers are with everyone in Irma's path.

With the new storm building in intensity and it proximity to the BAHAMAS, we way have to revisit the hopes that the Tourney might still be played...
I am sure those people that live in the storms path have things of more concern, and am also sure that Tournament planners are preparing for the worst.....

Please keep the people of Puerto Rico in your thoughts. I still have three friends who have not reported in. They have major power issues on the island and hopefully that is the reason.

A man who works in my building is from Puerto Rico, and his daughter and her family still lives there. No communication for the last few days.

Two friends out in the Rain Forest have not yet checked in. They are a few miles from any town, but I know they prepared for this.

Can the rising flood waters in our country be actually caused by the tears rising from the graves of American servicemen who died defending our country around the world, and are now viewing persons earning millions of dollars refusing to show proper respect to patriotic songs and traditions that bring tears to those that that witnessed the bravery of those whose salary was aprox. no more then a stipence compared...
The attendence at sport games is slowly fallen...May it hit Rock Bottom until it reaches the grave depth of those they so selfishly disrespect........!!!!!

OT, and don't forget, that these same heroes might be shedding tears for a true American hero, John McCain, who is fighting for his life. And yet, in the middle of his fight, he was subjected to riducule by by our president. Probably the low point of Trump's time in politics. Though, my oldest grandaughter, thinks there wasn't nothing worse than his 'Party Bus' remarks. Bottom line, many of those heroes might be crying because they realize that he is now the president.

59........Sometimes at night my sleep is interupted by visions of 18-20 year old youths that ran into without hesitation almost sure death and never had the chance to reach the age of 80...
A little story that will reflect to a time when men were endowed with bravery and patriotism.....
We were order to clear out a hillside cave...My partner was another 18 year old youth...He threw a grenade which somehow hit the caves entrance and rolled back to our position...He reached out to toss it out of our danger...In doing so it exploded...His right arm was a bloody mangled mess as we took off our shirts to stop the flow of blood...
As we were doing so he uttered some of the bravest words I remember....
SO...''I guess they will call me LEFTY FROM NOW ON'' without shedding a tear or a cry...
I would have to look far and wide to find that type of courage in todays world...
The world will soon be rid of men like that...GOOD LUCK......You will need it......
And I read that it took courage to kneel while our NATIONAL ATHEM was being played!!!!...

Chels.........Trump has made millions and has built buildings that are things of beauty....He has never been or convicted of a crime while doing so...He has with his brain become leader of the free world...He has lived and become the American dream...
You are a nothing compared to what he has accomplished, yet have the nerve to call him ignorant....How far is your easily led brain been penatrated...I fully expect you to answer with innuendos without a drop of proof and in the childish insulting style that you have been brainwashed to do...
I have lived under 13 presidents...Along the way were those I did not agree or vote for, but I have always shown great respect for our the office...
