We beat some really good programs and a couple others not mentioned, this is a GREAT signing, way above Maac level talent!!! On the flip side, let's not short-change his choice. Sometimes I think there's a tendency to underestimate what the "MAAC level" is. There's a hell of a lot of former MAAC players collecting a paycheck playing basketball... it's not a Power 5, but let's give some credit where it's due. Agree there were some very solid teams involved with his recruitment - a very good barometer of the player Cluess is getting. Gael fans should be excited but remain measured. Time will tell.

Great commit, but we dont have him until I see him on the court. He is prepping next year and slated to join us in 2020. But if he has a good prep year he will go higher.

Guy, VC has him as a 2019 commit. Hope they are correct.

When we first offered him it was reported that he was going to go to a prep for a year, but I thought they meant this year. It appears that he returned to his high school and is planning on the prep route next season. Maybe the staff can convince him to come earlier than planned... maybe offer him a redshirt as a freshman to get a year of school under his belt and a year of conditioning, so that he can step in the following season and make an immediate impact.

Guy, I just read Zagsblog, and he shows him as a 2019 recruit. I have a feeling that he edited a prior posting.

Guy Jr. is a '19 recruit and will be joining Iona next year. Very good news.
This is from a writer who I asked about Guy's status. He just asked him.
Told me he will have a article on Guy's recruitment soon. I will post it once I see it.

Not sure what you're reading, this is from the current Zagsblog post: "The 6-foot-6, 210-pound Guy Jr. is expected to prep next season and enroll at Iona in 2020, sources said." But per Sharkey, it sounds like this morsel may be incorrect anyway. I hope we do have him for 2019. I think the longer this kid lingers, the less likely we are to keep him.

This kid preps a year, it will be very difficult to keep him. Guy Jr. was on visits to Murray St. and Tulsa at the end of June. Western Kentucky writer says he would be a asset for WKU just a week ago. The writer, Courtney Asher Smith, told me he asked the kid this morning when he was planning to come to Iona. Looking forward to his article on Guy's commitment to Iona and actual quotes from the kid himself. Hopefully, nothing changes and he signs in the November signing period.

He needs to sign or he is nothing but a verbal which is worthless.
