IW Tweeted that "jelly day" had to be postponed because the NYPD couldn't handle the "Hugh crowd" that turned out. That is incredible. Better get your season tickets as soon as they go on sale.

Watched him play last week at The Hoops in the Sun NYC summer league. Kids playing in the youth league games all came over to watch him. His following is really incredible. Thousands showed up today. Supposedly being rescheduled.

Thousands? That's incredible if it isn't an exaggeration.
Iona needs to find a way to cash in on this without making him bigger than the team itself - sounds like that might be tricky.

So y haven't we secured games at msg and even Nassau we need to promote Jelly as much as possible, maybe we can get locals to come as freshmen instead of junior transfers

Maybe we want to see him actually play first. Would be fun to do allot of promotion and then he rides the bench.

The following IW and this Jelly Fam movement has is really amazing. A couple of bloggers that went to Dyckman to cover the event ended up coming to Orchard beach to watch the Hoops In The Sun men's playoff games since it was cancelled. They said the crowd was unbelievable. If anyone is on Instagram there are a couple short videos showing how long the lines were to get into the park and the crowd inside the park. I was thinking about going to see what Jelly Day is all about, as well as watch some of the very good games that were scheduled. Glad I decided to go to Orchard Beach instead, because quite frankly it looked like total chaos. There is a short video of IW in a car trying to leave Dyckman, and the kids were surrounding the car taking pictures and reaching inside.

Iona should be running a social media campaign for each player where they place a link in the post that will take a person to a slick produced player page (video containing 25 questions the player answers & some personal view on the upcoming season and the need for fan support) where the school can capture email and texts. Once you have the texts and emails you send out a mass text and email to the various fans reminding them about a game a few days in advance. Basically, a marketing funnel to capture the info needed to sell kids on attending or watching on TV (if we have a lot of viewers, that will be noticed by ESPN), A simple and cheap way of getting the word out.

Quinnipiac has these small videos for each player on twitter. Something similar to this would be great. Some of the Iona players, including the new guys, are pretty active on Instagram. FWIW, the team really appears like they are enjoying their workouts.
Example of player video:
Also if anybody wants to watch a little college hoops, and take a peak at a possible MAAC contender, QPAC'S last game on their trip to Canada is being livestreamed tonight

Wow!This player should boost Iona's media coverage, key word being ''should." One thing I know is the post won’t. They didn’t mention the transfer and braziller will do everything in his power not to mention him or his popularity as long as he is writing on college basketball. We will have to wait for the minor preseason and post season blurbs they give Iona and the one story a year they let Kussoy write on a different local team each Monday.
