How would you rank this team compared to other teams under Cluess? Would give extra credit to this team since it was the only team to win the reg season AND the MAAC tourney, and this was our best showing in the NCAAs.

Very hard to do, this team had the worst winning% of any Cluess team, but did a 180degree turn from 7-15 start. The BYU NCAA game, I think we lost by 6 was probably our closest. I would think the regular season win + Maac Tourney win + not getting embarrassed by a #1 seed would rank this team around #6

I think 2012 was TC's best year. They got an at large. That's huge out of a mid-major. That team was totally captivating. The OOC portion of the schedule was brutal with almost everything on the road. They still qualified for the tournament. My favorite season by far.
The 2012 team was the most talented but I must say the 2018/2019 team could prove to be TC's best, from a net benefit basis. If we can get some recruiting momentum off of the tourney performance and land some A-10/Big East caliber players, the value would be maximized.

The one knock on that team was that they weren't able to Adapt when things weren't going well offensively (most of the same guys from the 2011 team too). This happened in big games vs SPU ('11), Santa Clara ('11), FF ('12) and BYU ('12).
As the years went on I feel like Cluess has his teams able to adapt in big games much better than earlier in his Iona career. The proof is in the 4 straight titles
Totally agree here. Very good analysis. Although his talent level isn't quite the same, he's making more DI level adjustments.
Cluess’s coaching in the ncaa tournament has improved every year. I once thought his coaching style would never allow him to win an ncaa game, but now he looks ready for any type of opponent. I really think all he needs is a 25 win type team and a 13 or lower seed and he is going to win a game.
And our chances to get to the tourney are going to be good every year because He is a maac tournament expert, his teams will likely be the favorite year in an year out until he is gone, unless he has a horrible team, which I just can’t see. But even with those great prospects you still need some luck, as we got this year against St. Peter’s, and you cannot expect luck, so we should appreciate these ncaa years, because even with the best coach there is no guarantee to get back to the tourney.
We are spoiled, and right now it’s hard to understand just how tough it is to get to the tournament as much as we have in basically a 1 bid league. Cluess is truly special, hopefully he can stay here until he retires, if so there will be an ncaa win before he’s done.
I hope so. We must have the worst tournament record of any team that has ever played in the NCAA tournament. We have lost 13 straight games in the NCAA tournament. ( I count the Holy Cross game as a win). For those of us who have dared to dream since the 70's, Cluess needs to get a tournament win. Making the tournament is great, but we need to win a game.

We have the worst winning percentage of any team with a win.
