EXCELLENT point. Contrary to the words of Gordon Gekko, greed is not always good.

Seems other Iona fans are really sensitive about this one, I am just stating the facts. At the same time I think better than the all time overall win amount is the number of NCAA appearances. I don't have an exact number on that but I bet we are top 50, which is amazing for a little school like Iona, just be nice if we can get another win or two.
Edited-we are tied for 76th, not quite as good as I thought but still impressive, and I count our 1980 win and our 1980 appearance, ridiculous to not count it.
Appearances since 79, we are likely easily top 50.

But a better percentage than all teams that don't have a win. Technically. we don't even have a win. So we have the most losses without a win. Even FDU now has a win.

Also in NY area we are second to St. Chicken (300), unless you count Princeton who has 25 ncaa appearances. We are one ahead of Seton Noballs and far ahead of Rutgers (6).

One more anecdote from Iona NCAA history, if you look at our record and the scoring margin we look like we have been non competitive in most games but actually in 10 of the 15 games we either won, lost by 4 or less or led at halftime by 5 or more. Iona's NCAA basketball history is still mostly a story of NCAA heartbreak, however few outside longtime Iona fans realize it.

Joebird...impressive stat for you. Iona has more NCAA berths since 2000 than half of this year’s Final Four teams (Auburn and TT).

The 2011-12 team with a 15-3 conference record but defeated by Fairfield in the conference Semis was his best.

Pin this thread until after season is over. Think it has all the makings to be Cluess’ best — and perhaps THE best, in Iona history.

They'd better go to the sweet 16, then, because the schedule--league and OOC--won't test them.

Guy, beat me too it. The 2011-12 team beat lots of very good 20+ win teams, some on the road. The MAAC also had 4 teams win 20+ games that season.

I think this team is on another level than all of those teams, including the at-large team. Schedule aside, the talent on this team is unquestionable, and this is probably the most complete team we’ve ever had under TC.

Never really know until games start but this team seems super deep and talented. Rotation is tough to guess, especially if Washington gets the waiver.
Gist Washington/McNeil Crawford Agee Thiam
Lots of ways to go. And some kids may be much better than I know. Like how good is Ross, or what kind of jump can Ristanovic or Nikolic make? Could be fun.
