Like i said earlier the money Cluess will make here not much different than the money he will make in the 4 years he will have a t st johns before they move on again we really might be the better job, if he is making 600+ and especially if we extend again, lets say to 2029 he would be 70 and ready to retire and would make 7 mil+ added to what he has already made here, not bad for a guy who was a high school coach until almost 50
fight the good fight, keep Cluess or make St Chicken pay every dollar, no compromise

Fight for Cluess. Not only does St John’s not deserve someone with his integrity, but I think they are jerking him around as the safe “option3.” If they do hire him we have to make them pay every penny. A lawsuit against St John’s for tortious interference with contract is looking better and better.

Why will SJU move on in 4 years? Let's be real, can't say Cluess is a great coach and then say he will be fired in 4 years at SJU. I think he will win as SJU, that's just what he does. You don't think there is a difference in money when one job pays over 1M per year. Would there be less stress at Iona? Yes. But Cluess is as competitive as they come, and pretty sure thinks he will continue to win at SJU

Regarding Mike Lonergan, he was accused of some pretty destructive behavior with his players (who revolted on him) at George Washington and at Catholic University before that. Not sure what his reputation was at Vermont. No question the guy can coach (he has been successful everywhere, all the way back to DeMatha High School), but, like Mike Rice, I think Coach Lonergan is in serious need of counseling. To my knowledge, he has never owned up to his poor behavior. A lot of that was debunked by Deadspin last year. Seems his AD was sexual predator and Lonergan reported him, started a feud of accusations.

I have a question which might seem dumb. where did Iona release this statement? It is not on our web site (Main or Athletics) and it doesn't appear to be on our Twitter feed because the last thing posted is about the Commissioner's Cup (and that was posted about an hour ago) and the tweet before that one was a Softball tweet 16 hours ago.

I think the press release from Iona was brilliant. I think it was a message to Cluess more than anyone else. Message being is St. Johns stringing you along while they talk to more big boys since they have said boo to us about this all. 3 days of talks for what should be a very straightforward deal, even if he was the number 2 choice, seems odd to me at this point.

Also trying to make SJ look bad. And honestly screw them. They are the one's looking bad because of this. It's so clear that SJ is desperately looking for someone other than Cluess or else they would have already hired their "#2 choice." At the end of the day Iona's getting some decent publicity out of this, which is always good.

St John’s has mishandled this from the start by forcing Mullin out without their top choice secured, at least informally. Screw St John’s.

I stand corrected. Surprised Cluess buyout is really that high. You guys very well may keep him after all. Congrats! See you next year!

If Cluess is not hired by the end of the day he is not the choice of all involved in the decision. I think they are looking for someone else as well, and he is a back up option.

Zagoria reporting Porter Moser and Ryan Odom are other names in the mix for the SJU job
