Presidents afraid to make bold decision. 34 years is just too much! Presidents under duress with declining student populations, particularly in the Northeast. Much easier to go with status quo on athletics-too many other difficult decisions to make. Given all that is going on with NCAA, I fear a D1A and D1B. MAAC not positioned well. Very good point about declining enrollment at small private schools. Sports are understandably an afterthought. Still, I have little confidence in Ensor's leadership. Sports should not be an afterthought, it's a fact that when small schools make it to the tournament enrollment goes up the next year

Demographics will catch up--even to Iona. (Did not make budgeted enrollment this year--after 4 straight NCAAs) Agreed. Endowment size, financial management, and overall fundraising will separate the survivors from the colleges that are forced to close. And we are going to see a wave of closures in the northeast in the next 10 years. It’s already well under way.

A very impressive win for Kevin Willard as SH, playing w/o Myles Powell, knocks off #7, Maryland.
