Did anyone (posters) attend the post game reception, $1K contributors, which reportedly was held in the new Hynes Entrepennurial (Sp?) Center? Any news come out of it? Yes, and no.

Guy, what about the number of attendees? And did any of the coaches attend? And how is the new facility? Thanks.

Let’s not speculate about potential TC dates-absent any information.

I'm sorry, you've already passed your quota of questions allowed. ;-) Attendance was OK, though the room was smaller than Hegarty. No coaches (at least I didn't see any). Facility is cool from what I saw of it, a nice idea.

Let’s not speculate about potential TC dates-absent any information. I didn't see any speculation. I have no info, so I really couldn't speculate if I tried. He could be back tomorrow. He may never return to the program. I have absolutely no idea. And that's all fine, just wishing him the best. But certainly we can talk about it from a basketball perspective, although I am hoping we don't spend the whole season saying "if only Tim were here..."

This season really did a 180 quickly. From huge optimism to major disappointment and concern. I had huge expectations that quickly plummeted from:
1. Cluess not showing at game 1 2. the horrible start at Lasalle 3. Cluess not showing vs. Ohio. 4. Losing the home opener to Ohio.
Right now I now have no expectations and as low amount of interest in the season as I have had in many, many years.
As for some thoughts on yesterday:
1. Is it possible they are considering red shirting McNeil and or Cashaw and that's why they aren't dressed? 2. The minutes distributed has been done poorly (as others have said). Don't believe Crawford and Gist came out and no minutes for Ristanovic yesterday, just some of my minutes played concerns. This is going to make too many players unhappy campers. 3. I'm hoping by the new year the scoreboards work better. No highlights at all and quirky stats. 4. The building gets much louder than the pre- renovated building when the fans make noise. 5. Ohio is pretty good and well coached. 6. The team seems a lot less certain when they should shoot 3's. Agee passing up many. It feels like Cluess's absence is really hurting this and the farther line may have made Agee uncomfortable shooting 3's. Perez and Van Eyck taking no 3's is another concern. Iona doesn't win when it doesn't hit 3's, and we have had 2 bad games with 3's. 7. At the game I heard a lot of criticism for Washington, but I see a special player who is just struggling to get comfortable. He would be helped by Cluess and I think pulling him at the end may have been a long term mistake. 8. The press with Van Eyck on the inbounder is a weapon that must be used more, and the Gaels need to use the bench more to be able to do this for longer times. Ross also looked good pressing. 9. The 1 for 1 fouling at the end was done terribly (as many have stated), Cluess may have changed this.

If TC were present at our opening 2 games, my response to all of this would be, "don't worry, it's November."
Some of our guys have not played up to potential, but I am optimistic that they will as the season progresses - so "don't worry, it's November".
I am worried about Tim's health, (1) because the Iona College Men's Basketball Team needs him and, more importantly, (2) he is not only a great coach, he is a great individual. I wish him and his family all the best.
Come back soon Tim, but not until the doctors tell you that you can. God Bless!
Go Gaels!!!

A couple of thoughts after watching our last game:
1) IW is still working out the kinks of his game. I like having the ball in his hands instead of Gist. He did have 4 turnovers but they were frustration plays which occur, but he will get more comfortable playing more. Not concerned about his game or him coming around. I do like the fact that he does create a lot of 3 point opportunities with his driving ability but the team is not knocking them down. 2) Gist looked better but is capable of playing a lot better. I like him off the ball instead of bringing it up. However, I do hate the stupid layups that he does around the basketball trying to be cute. Go up strong and stop with those soft layups or slowing down to a snail's pace. 3) Agee was very hesitant in this game which was weird. He usually never holds back. If you remember last year, he would throw up that one-leg fadeaway over and over again after being told not to, but this year when he is open for 3's, he decides to pass it up. I would like to see him let it go again. He has shown the ability to consistently knock them down. 4) Like Van Eyck and his aggressiveness, but he rusty as well. Offensively he went strong to the basket on several plays and played tough which i liked. Also, I really liked his presence on defense. 5) EJ Crawford played good but too many minutes again. We need to rest him more so towards the end of the game he has energy and his legs under him. 6) Mo Thiam was a pleasant surprise. I don't understand the logic though of him sitting at the beginning at half and not coming in for a while in the 2nd half. He scored 9 points right before the end of the half and he poised matchup problems. We were also having some offensive struggles, so why not give him a shot in the second half early in the half. 7) Ross is coming around, but needs to play a little quicker. I would rather substitute him in place of perez as he's willing to let it go for 3 or go up for a layup. 8) Perez. Got frustrated twice watching the game because he literally was afraid to go up for a layup and passed the ball out for a 3. One of those times he was wide open for a layup and threw to IW for a 3 in the corner.
Overall, I'm frustrated because this team really is a talented team and the first two games really didn't show it. We were playing catch up ball the entire game. However, this is a constant trend for us in the beginning of the year as players are still starting to gel with each other but there have been too many dumb mistakes with the ball.
Note - TC missing has a substantial impact on the game. If you ever played a collegiate sport, you know why and how it impacts you. Saying that, these first 2 games I feel would've been completely different results. He knows how to switch it up and help get certain players going. You saw it in the past during games and you'll see it in the future when he gets better and comes back.

Would also add that it’s hard to get excited as a fan with this schedule because of the gaps between games. Makes it feel like the season doesn’t have a flow yet.
