Nice debate on the Fordham board about leaving the A-10 and rejoining the MAAC.

Nice debate on the Fordham board about leaving the A-10 and rejoining the MAAC. No thanks, been there done that. Maybe they should contact the Big East since they are a football and basketball powerhouse! ;D

Won't happen...would be very nice imho if Fordham and Holy Cross rejoined the fold...those were some rivalries back then...did not matter as much who was good or bad...it was the rivalry that itself that put the electricity in the air...as much as I can't stand either my thought is that it would bring a new richness to the MAAC...

Would love to see Fordham and Holy Cross return to the MAAC. In the old days, you couldn't get a ticket to those games against Iona. Well, I could ... but I think it would definitely improve MAAC Basketball. I agree with ICHoops that it would be good for the neighborhood.

I'd like to see Iona play St Johns, Seton Hall or Rutgers at the new Brooklyn Arena....perhaps on a rotational basis. Playing Fordham every year would be great, which seems to be something Manhattan has been able to do. I don't think I would want the number of MAAC games to rise above the current 18.....as those games tend to drag down the top MAAC teams on their RPI. If our Tourny Champ goes into the dance as a 14 or worse......the odds of a quick exit are very likely.

Watched most of the second half of yesterday's game and imo Fordham, which shot 29% from the field, and only scored 50 points, losing by six, looked like the better team. For some reason I hadn't seen Tom Pecora all season, and in hi-def he seems to be aging (aren't we all), as I guess losing does take a toll. It's going to be a tough year for SJU, but things should improve when they get a PG, next year. They just better hope that he'll be eligible. The Rams have reason to hope that they'll aproach 10 wins this year as the A-10 is down, and McMillan, Smith, Frazier, and Short should improve as the year goes along. JMO.

Odd reaction by the Fordham fans. They were horrified by losing to Manhattan by 30, and justifiably so. But as long as they aren't embarrassed by SJ's they seem to consider it a good effort. SJ's played 6, count'em 6, guys yesterday. The Rams should've run them out of the joint, I don't care how good those six guys may be (unless of course its LeBron, D Wade, etc). For all of the analytical reasoning they've supposedly learned from the Jesuits, its seems most of the posters can't delve deeper than the name on the front of the uniform, or what conference a team is affiliated with. That game was a bad missed opportunity for them, imo. But they do have a young team, hopefully they will learn from it.

Ace is fine, good guy. There are some others there that have worked hard to ensure the "National U" moniker.

Reading the Fordham board is a real eye opener. The level of delusional thinking exhibited is unbelievable. Every other post seems to mention "A-10 level players" or simply the fact that they play in the A-10. They seem to think that membership in the A-10 is an achievement by itself. The fact is that while they play in the A-10, they don't actually compete in the A-10. Their program has not been relevant for 20 years now, nor competitive in any meaningful way. Put them in the MAAC tomorrow and they'd struggle to get to the level of the 6th best team in our conference. I really don't think there is any hope for Fordham.

Why are Fordham games shown in beautiful high definition on the YES Network? Can't Iona get on MSG or something? Isn't there local television that can air our games?

Lots of Fordham alums over there at YES including Michael Kay (I believe). Neither the Gaels nor us needs to worry about Fordham. They feel that they are so above the MAAC, yet I don't think they'd finish in the top half of the league now with their current "A10" squad.

Also Ryan Ruocco (Yankees/ESPN Radio) is a more recent Fordham alum. He does play by play for Fordham games and NJ Nets.

What I find a little odd about the Fordham board is how much some of the posters over there comparatively assess their program. They seem to be worried that they aren't as good as St. John's or Iona or Manhattan, instead of just getting good. And they want to take over NY and challenge SJ's for the NY market, etc. etc. I think if I were them I'd just want my team to get better and have some success.
