on the part of some of the players near the conclusion of yesterday's broadcast.
I do not believe that he was using it as an excuse for the loss and neither am I. Marshall deserves a lot of credit for shutting us down in the second half.
But does anyone know whether we have a bunch of sick guys on the team? I wouldn't be surprised if their immune systems are down given how hard they practice; the travel they have been doing; plus school work and exams.
Hoping to see The Gaels bounce back against the Spiders, who have to be looking for revenge for last year.
Go Gaels!!!

I do know both Machado and Momo have had some lingering illnesses. Smyth too, I think.

Scott had the flu and lost an additional 11 pounds over the last week or so.
moMo mentioned he was under the weather as well.

He said Glover was under the weather on Sunday. May have caught up to him in second half. Overall Iona looked very tired and lethargic in the second half. That is the main reason for the horrendous second half.

In one of the write ups after the Denver game, Cluess said that Scott and MoMo seemed "under the weather," and wasn't sure if it was the altitude. Guess they were getting sick. Take care of yourselves guys.

No excuses, tough loss. I used to travel to Denver quite a bit and can tell you the altitude thing combined with the time change and travel time used to knock the heck out of me. If they were sick already it certainly doesn't help. Hope they get well quick!

I don't buy in as all the travel was the cause, and will be the cause for us losing to Marshall and perhaps losing to Richmond and Vermont as well. Young men in good shape should be able to handle the wear and tear of tough travel and perform well on the court. But I do have two concerns, one BIG and the other BIGGER. Concerns: 1. BIG-Airplanes and to a lesser extent busses (long trips) are a terrible 'place' for picking up germs, resulting in sickness. So if the rumors of guys being sick are correct, I'll just say I'm not surprised. 2. BIGGER-The schedule with the resultant travel during exam week is too chalenging for words. I'll just say that even a smart guy like Ichoops would struggle to get good marks. And God forbid, if any of the players are more a student like myself, then God help him. Bottom line, the Athletic department has their hands full in providing academic support. I'll also add that the during exam week IWB had only one weekend game, and we know how well the women perform in the classroom. Is it just a coincidence? I think not.

Don't worry about these guys academically. Smyth just graduated, and Momo has a 3.8 GPA. The athletic office is more focused on these guys' academics than you'd think.

It was actually a remark from IC59.
But yes, I am both intellectually gifted, a smart ass, and the authority.
The answer is: McGrew

Any word on if the guys are getting any better? I can't believe the team had to travel to Denver, Marshall and came back home before heading to Richmond. Going to be tough if some of the guys are still sick.
