All-MAAC guard Rico Pickett is leaving Manhattan after one season to play professional basketball overseas.

Pickett, from Decatur, Ala., led the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in scoring last season with 17.7 points per game.

A statement from the Jaspers on Friday did not say where the 6-foot-4 Pickett planned to play. Coach Barry Rohrssen supported Pickett’s decision as being the “best for him and his family at this time.”

Like I said on the MAAC board, From a good source, Rohrsenn has known for awhile that he was leaving and doesnt give a shit. Said the kid was too much to handle and a total distraction

I think this will hurt Manhattan in the short term, but will help them big time in the long term. They might struggle some in 10-11, but compete for a top spot in 11-12. JMO.
