Our D was outstanding in the final minutes. Offense, not so. Too many rushed shots. I feard Vermont would win on a prayer on the buzzer

Only got to see the last ten minutes of the game. Did they say what the deal is with Smythe?
This team looks like its had enough road trip. Got one more fellas, back down to Va. Got to bring it one more time.

ctbill, I have to disagree with you that Vermont should have won. They were a well rested team playing at home, while we continue in the midst of the road trip from hell. Also, we were down one starter. Two of their shots, one three just before half time and the shot by Caresimo (who was tied up by Glover for seven seconds) were prayers. I say the team that won should have won. JMO.

Kyle hurt his shoulder (not sure which one) in practice - he will have an MRI on Monday.

I agree with jmo. Vermont was lucky to stay in the game. Our d was much better but our last few shots were not good choices when you are in the lead. Just to correct ctbill we actually have 2 more road game (William and Mary and Hofstra) and the Sienna at MSG before we actually come home. These kids are winning the games that prior Iona teams lost. One thing for sure, they will not be afraid to play at a neutral site in March! Go Gaels!

Yes, you're right two more road games, although with the layoff between W&M and Hofstra and the fact that the game will be played in Hempstead, I don't really consider it part of this grueling road odyssey we're on.

Good point ctbill. Plus we should have a fairly large group at Hofstra.

Classic Momo game today, ( this is why I'm glad he got the waiver) couldn't have won without him, could of lost because of him. If he sharpens up his decision making Iona will go far! That fade away shot of his is difficult to defend, and he was strong on the boards.

Guys played great D on that possession, he had no where to go and with the clock running out hoisted a prayer over Glove. Of course it went in. Didn' t like our body language after that. And although we played very good D down the stretch, Voelkel did have an open look from about 12 feet with a few seconds remaining. We dodged a bullet imo, but maybe this team has some luck.

These guys show flashes of brilliance on defense, but it is not sustained. If they ever play with the intensity they played with in the 2nd half, especially the last few minutes, we are tough to beat.
Like many, I expected us to blow out Vermont and we were fortunate to get out of there with a "W". Nice to know we can still pull it out when we're not hitting on all cylinders. As Guy and others have said, this is a game we probably would have lost in past years. This is a gritty Gaels squad.
I am really disappointed in the news about Kyle. I love his shot; his ball hawking skills and the way he can take a charge. I was hoping that today was going to be his day to break out of his slump. Now I'm just hoping he gets to play again. Get well soon, Kyle!
Go Gaels!!!
