Trying to stir slow board........OOC still not completed but enough is known of the MAAC.....My look....
We take two from Loyola...Niagara...Canisius....Marist....Rider.... Manhattan.....
We split with Fairfield....St. Pete's....Siena...... That is 15-3.....My take however is a 14-4 season, as somewhere along the way we lose another game....
With 12 OOC games and possibly three in tournament, a 22-23 win season is realistic...Counting the days.....
Aside...On my walk yesterday (about 4 PM) met and had a nice conversation with Dwight outside the Auxiliary Gym...(another nice kid). I asked him about scrimmaging..He stated they were gathering in a few minutes...I continued my walk and came back about 4:30 pm to a empty gym...My question...Is there another place to practice that I am unaware of?....He informed me that Kestic and Monroe recruit were not at school yet..
Go Gaels!!!!!

ctbill reported on off topic board:
Quinny Home Hoops Schedule « Thread Started on Jun 21, 2010, 9:28am »
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In case any are interested they have home games v. Rhode Island, UMass, and Vermont at their dandy little sports complex. Got the season ticket brochure this weekend.
Why does Iona's schedule always come out late.
I remember years ago, a friend (St. John's fan) told me he received his season ticket application on Labor Day Weekend.
Iona's came out 6 weeks later.
Perhaps it is more difficult for Iona to schedule?

My guess is we'll see Iona's schedule released earlier this year. Seems like most of the parts are in place.

OT, the closest gym to Iona is the one in the former Holy Family school. It's used by the CYO and the NR rec leagues. Don't know if the kids have access to it.

My guess is we'll see Iona's schedule released earlier this year. Seems like most of the parts are in place. We're still waiting on contracts for the final two games. Decent names I hear... Also, the full schedule comes out later than other conferences because the MAAC has to wait for ESPN and MSG for available TV dates.

Thanks for the explanation.
Seems very reasonable.

15-3...1997-1998...Tim Welsh....Lost to Syracuse at Rupp arena by a last second shot in NCAA's ...Long ride home from Lexington with Gene Langbien ( Deceased) my buddy and traveling mate...I remember well....He and I did not say a word to each other untill we reached the West Virginia line...The first words he spoke......"Lets have a few beers." We holded up for the night with the thought......." And this to shall pass"....
Go Gaels!!!!!!!

I too have vivid memories of that day. We all thought this was going to be our long sought break through. The final seconds seemed to last for hours and everyone was sure the clock had to have expired. Then reality hit! I sat in my seat at Rupp for a good 5 minutes unable to speak. The bus ride back to the hotel was the quietest ride I have ever taken. More than a few drinks were downed the rest of that very long day.

I remember it vividly also. I was in San Diego at a local pub with a group of Iona alums (I think it was still morning in California). With seconds left in the game, the group was jumping up and down and celebrating (and rightfully so) that we had beaten Syracuse. I held my breath (as I had been there before vs. Virginia in 1984, vs. Loyola of Chicago in 1985, etc.) The shot goes in ... and we were all broken hearted AGAIN.

Please register so you don't come up as a guest! Last year's team was 12-6, and the MAAC appears to be looking at a step back this year. 14-4 isn't impossible, though I myself will pick 13-5.
