Varsity Insider @lohudinsider 5m5 minutes ago Spring Valley seniors Kai Mitchell and Rickey McGill are scheduled to sign with @icgaels at 10 Wednesday morning at Spring Valley HS. Varsity insider says that Mitchell will prep a year at St. Thomas More, but is still committed to the Gaels. McGill is still expected to sign tomorrow.

I assume they may have a "signing" before the Spring Valleys student body but it has been known that Mitchell will prep.

Don't know if this has been posted. Several tweets say Iona and Missouri are recruiting Ricky council, a 6-4 guard from Moravian Prep in North Carolina. Tremendous shooter.

Don't know if this has been posted. Several tweets say Iona and Missouri are recruiting Ricky council, a 6-4 guard from Moravian Prep in North Carolina. Tremendous shooter. Ricky Council - 6'4" SG. Rated a 69 by ESPN but really blew up in the last year, especially during this summer. An Elite level shooter who can bomb from deep and can also get to the hoop. Offers from Marshall, Radford, Gardner-Webb, Appalachian State, UNC-Ashville, Jacksonville, UNC-Wilmington, Georgia Souther, Western Carolina, FIU and WKU. Expect him to get higher looks this year at Prep Some scouting reports from Phenom Hoop Report: Phenom Hoops Analyst Johnny Carthens - " What a high wire act this kid is! He runs the floor like a gazelle and is one of the very best finishers in the state of North Carolina. He’s developed into a player that can score from anywhere on the court. Ricky has a nice mid-range jumper and has added a consistent post game that allows him to take advantage of his physical nature. He’s capable of filling it up from three point range, which sets up his driving lanes once the defense has been stretched. He has put in the work and developed his body to endure the physical pounding as defenses try to slow him down. For all of his individual ability, Ricky also makes his teammates better by setting the tone with his effort and willingness to move the ball offensively." Phenom Hoops Scouting and Recruiting Director Rick Lewis - "Ricky has been one of the most dedicated alums of the NC Phenom 150 camp. He has attended every year since he was a freshman and it has been a pleasure to watch his development over his high school career. First of all, Ricky is the perfect “all around player!” He does so many things well and there is a reason why he is in hot pursuit by so many D1 colleges. Ricky can slash to the basket with ease or make the defense pay by knocking down 3-pointers from the perimeter. He is just as fast with the ball as without it and more importantly, Ricky is a lock down defender. Without question, one of the highest ranked players in the state that hasn’t made a college commitment." Tweets From NC Phenom Camp 2014 WG that will earn some offers in April? Easy answer. NC’s Ricky Council. Really like his game, character, effort. Team captain kid. -HoopSeen.com Editor Justin Young I spotlighted Ricky Council, the best available senior in North Carolina, when I returned home from the trip north. The 6-foot-4 athletic guard from Northern Durham High School is resetting his recruitment. It will certainly take off this season -HoopSeen.com Editor Justin Young Phenom Hoops Director of Scouting and Recruiting Jamie Shaw Ricky showed his ability to be the alpha dog. When his team needed a bucket, Ricky went and got it. He shot the 3 ball well, knocked down the pull up jumper, and attacked the rim with purpose. Ricky showed high level explosion and strength finishing through contact. On defense, Ricky’s motor matched his athleticism defending off the ball very well. All in all, Ricky played a high level with a chip on his shoulder. 2014 Ricky Council out of Durham is a nice looking high major sg prospect. -247 Sports Director of Recruiting Jerry Meyer

Does anyone know if there were any recruits (McGill/Mitchell or others) at the home opener?

Ricky Council would be a major steal. Kid is great.
Eli Cain just decommitted from Delaware. He goes to St. Ben's and is similar to Council but bigger. Go get him Grasso!

Looks like we have one scholarship available for next year. And the obvious need is for a big, at least even an undersized PF who can rebound. Can't expect, but can hope, for someone who has the offensive game of David Laurey, but we do need a C/PF. Iona86, or anyone, who heads up our Wish List?
