I just got a call from Gael Fan's son. Gael Fan, one of Iona's staunchest supporters, passed away today while on a trip to Delaware. I feel very confident that he is now in heaven. Let's pray for his wife, children and wonderful extended family. He will be missed deeply.

Jack was a great guy, and a true gentleman. He was a credit to his family, his school, and his profession (Accounting). I'll miss him very much, and I'm sure this Board will miss him just as much. He seemed to get a great deal of enjoyment from this Board and acted as its unofficial conscience. May he rest in peace.

While we rarely get to meet, this virtual world does give us a chance to get to know people at some level. Gael Fan and I did exchange a few private messages when this Board started up.
I really liked the little I got to know of Gael Fan, and wish I could have gotten to know him in person - as is true of many of you good people.
My deepest sympathies to his family, and thank you to his son for calling epatrick with the sad news. This Board will miss his humor and his insights.

Very Sad! May his soul rest in peace. I guess you just never know when you'll be called. Seems like an awful lot of fans have died in last couple of years, this is the first death of a regular poster that I can recall. My condolences to the family as well.
