I would bet money that GaelFan has already met our Maker and He has said to him, “Well done good and faithful servant”, and invited Jack into His Kingdom. GF would not change places with any of us now for anything. He has begun eternity in Heaven.
For his family and friends, I send my prayers and heartfelt condolences on their loss. I know that I will miss GF’s presence on this board. If GAELMAN reads the board, know my prayers are with you and your family, John.
We now have one more of the Iona faithful up with Our Lord. You know that Jack has already convinced Him to be an Iona fan.
You fought the good fight. Rest in Peace, Jack.

For those of us that knew Jack this is a sad, sad time. I echo all the sentiments from above. I will miss him very much. Just spoke to him before his trip to Delaware and we agreed to get together before the season started. Never in my wildest imagination did I think the next time I would see him would be like this. My sympathies to all his friends and family, he left us way too soon. Here is the information I received from his son: He will be resting at Mackens Mortuary which is located at 52 Clinton Ave Rockville Centre, N.Y. Monday..7 to 9 Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Wednesday, the Funeral Mass at St.Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre a few blocks from Mackens. Please pass on to all that new Jack. He was a great man and a great friend .

All of us who knew Jack will miss him dearly. Z's comment, "GF would not change places with any of us now for anything. He has begun eternity in Heaven" really nailed it... Jack is probably sitting in MSG watching Iona dismantle Louisville right now. God Bless.

Z=73 very thoughful post, and I would not presume to add to it.. But with your permission.......
Your sentence "He has begun enternity in Heaven" caught my interest as I was told this story by a old Irish Trolley Conductor. . It has made a lasting impression on me and the realization that "We are only here for a short visit".
There is a Monestary at the base of Mt. Everest......A High Buddhist Monk was teaching a class of Lama's, when he was asked the question "How long is eternity". He though for a second, and then told them all to step out to the outer balcony of the Monestary....
He pointed up to the mountain and spoke........"If a swallow were to perch on top of that mountain, and wiggle his tail once every thousand years, when he wore the mountain down to the face of the earth, it would only be early morn in eternity"....
It has been about 70 years since I was told this story, and I have never forgot it.....Thought it was worth a share.....
Go Gaels!!!!!
