movie you ever saw. For me, it was The Exorcist. I saw it the night after it opened at a theatre in Manhattan. At the time, there was a ton of play in the media surrounding demonic possessions, priests being interviewed, incidents cited all over the world about demonic possessions. I remember being on line to go into the theatre and people were coming out from the prior show crying and scared shetless. All that set the tone for what I was about to view in the movie; the levitation off the bed, the head spin completely around, absolute horror. I was a freshman in college and remember being afraid to go home to an empty house after seeing that movie. This wasn't an ordinary horror film - this was The Devil himself! Someone you didn't want to mess with. A close second was when I was a kid; She Demons, 50's Sci-Fi Chiller Theatre mad Nazi doctor experimenting on humans. Can't believe a trailer exists on You Tube: Just a little horror to discuss this Halloween night.

I was a kid and the movie "The Innocents" was scary. Now that I'm a gruff old gnarly Gael fan nothing scares me anymore. Wait! There is this nightmare where a humorless guy walks up and says, "I'm from the government and I'm here to help." Brrrrr!

Cjb and other horror movie fans.........There had been horror movies in the silent film days of which I have a faint memory, but the first such type talking movie that was the talk of the nation and had people terrified especially during the night was the masterpiece ''FRANKENSTEIN''. To fully understand one must have lived during that period...It was the birth of a new medium that had shock value and impact that movie fans today have had over 80 years to adjust...The scene between The Monster and the little girl and the anticipation of horror had probably more people burying their head in their arms then any other movie of that type since...
I first viewed FRANKENSTEIN about 1933 when 8 or 9 years old long before they were divided into age group viewing...I am not among the greatest movie fans, but have seen my share--FRANKENSTEIN will be remembered long after those type films are a distance memory...
Strange that up to this date people think Frankenstein was name of the Monster and not of the Doctor that created him......
