Heard last night, per a coach, that Daniel Robinson is out for the year and cannot be red shirted. Also, he is tentatively due have knee surgery which could him put him out for next season, as well. This will help him mature physically as he is young ... 19 years old and still filling out. The post game Goal Club receptions are a good information source. It will also make him very rusty if true. I feel bad for the kid.

This week will go a long way in deciding the MAAC....On Jan 30 Quinny meets Canisius at Hamden Conn. Root for Quinny...On Jan.31 we meet Manhattan in New Rochelle...A Gail victory coupled with a Grif. loss would put us in a commanding MAAC position.... To paraphrase ''It's not the beginning of the end, its end of the beginning.'' One thing to keep in mind is that you get the auto NIT bid by finishing first in the MAAC. Iona is still not a great team by any means, and if it doesn't happen in Springfield for us, having that NIT bid would be a great fall-back, because we don't have the resume to get a C tourney bid. Anything that gets you in postseason is a great thing. So though MAAC Tourney history suggests you want to avoid finishing first, it wouldn't be the worst thing this season.

I agree with you that this year an NIT bid would be a nice consolation but take a look at who made the CIT last year, doesn't take much of a resume. Basically about the top 140 teams make a tourney and we are 131 in rpi, 127 in Sagarin and 106 in pomeroy. I think with a reasonable finish we would be in the cit.

[/quote] Guy........With my eye set on the NCCA tourney I had pushed from my mind the winner of the MAAC would get the automatic NIT bid...Thanks for the reminder...Adds another incentive... ''Great'' is a subjective term, and I agree with you, but we are a exciting, high scoring, improving team with potential and fun to watch...It always fun to reach for the stars as long as you keep reality and limitations in mind...

I was really quite proud of the effort put out by the Gaels on Friday night. I hope they continue against SPC tomorrow and for the rest of the season.
Go Gaels!!!

I just watched a replay of the Rider at St Peters game that was played earlier this week. I found it interesting that up 21 with 15 seconds to go, Q still hoists up a 3 point attempt. Wasn't it the Q Coach that got in Grasso's face after Iona drubbed them in New Rochelle? For running up the score. Very interesting. By the way, Azotam has NO handle. I hadn't noticed it before....as he is an otherwise solid player.
