If the MAAC ever expands to a 12 school league..........who would you want to help upgrade the league, that is realistic?

Not sure how we would determine who's realistic since none of us know the agendas of the other programs, but in no particular order:
- Stony Brook - Fordham - LIU - Wagner - Drexel

I like your list and would also consider Albany, Vermont and Hofstra

I think I would go with Stoneybrook. They fit the Quinny/Monmouth profile, especially with their new facilities. And for anyone who's afraid of competition, just look at what the addition of Quinny/Monmouth has done for us. Now our Administration realizes they need to upgrade our facilities to stay competitive, or we will be left behind to bottom feeder status. When confronted with competition you can go two ways 1) we can't compete so let's just go about our merry way content to be at the bottom of the conference; or 2) let's step it up and maintain our place at/near the top. Thank God we have an Administration with the vision and chutzpah to go with number 2.
Fordham would be interesting, but that ship has sailed. I don't think many of their alums would support a move to the MAAC. For some reason many of them appear to need to feel superior to Iona and Manhattan; and if being a member of the A-10, even if in name only, accomplishes that for them that's fine.

Stony Brook has the right profile, and a program on an upward trajectory. Fordham belongs in the MAAC, but the only shred of respectability they have going for that program is A10 membership. Most Fordham fans would rather be a doormat in the A10 than face reality and try to compete in the MAAC, where they'd have natural rivals and a shot some years. LIU has had some very good teams in recent years also.

Yes I like LIU also. And don't get me wrong, I don't mean to bash Fordham. Not so sure the MAAC is a good fit for them. They are twice the size of Iona/Manhattan and have a Lincoln Center campus that features a very good law school. They are a fairly good sized university. Unfortunately without a facilities upgrade they cannot compete in the A-10, unless the A-10 gets further watered down by departures of VCU, St. Louis, UMASS, et al. But no need to continue to hold a grudge against Fordham for leaving the MAAC 25 years ago and aspiring to be something different. We used to have a good rivalry; we don't anymore. They are too busy trying to pretend we don't exist

Hofstra?

I included Hofstra because their facility would be amongst the best in the MAAC. I am wondering if the MAAC trends towards Quinny or near Quinny facilities.......how many of the current members could even consider taking the bait....as it seems Iona is inclined to do? Seems like it would be a lot to swallow for St Peters and Rider......perhaps many others. I like what I see from Marist in their renovation.......perhaps fueled by the Womens' team domination over the past decade plus.

Totally agree with the rationale, but I doubt that SPU & Rider take the step.

You will never get schools from the A-10 or CAA. Those conferences are already higher than the MAAC competitively and more importantly, unfortunately, in TV revenue. So that eliminates the CAA schools Hofstra and Drexel. And A-10 school Fordham. You could still get America East teams like Stony. You could get NEC teams like Wagner or LIU. But of those teams, I would say that Stony has the most upside, so I would go with them. And they would probably accept as they are looking to go up in competition. But they would be looking at it as a temporary stop since the MAAC does not play football. So that would be the drawback of taking them in.

The caa is no longer more competitive than the maac. But they still have a much better TV contract

Sorry if someone suggested this already, but if the MAAC does expand to 12 schools (which I believe it will eventually), why not split the conference up into 2 divisions of 6 teams.
Each team plays everyone in their division twice (10 games) plus one game against each team in the other division (6 games), for a total of 16 games. This would also free up 4 OOC games, and thus help RPI, SOS rankings and at-large credentials. Geographically speaking it makes a lot of sense:
NY METRO/NJ: Iona Manhattan Monmouth Rider Saint Peter's TBD
UPSTATE/CT: Canisius Fairfield Marist Niagara Quinnipiac Siena
