Iona05, agree with you Tavon was the unsung hero. Without his hustle in the closing minutes, it's an L. A win at Canisius is a must. Right now a tie-breaker would go to the Griffs. Go Gaels!

Missed this game due to travel. Probably saved me some heartburn. I'll have to follow the Canisius game late to. Go Gaels

My take, and I only had the audio feed: Great jobs by: 1. Gary Stanley, as he called the game by himself, and I guess he'll have to do the same on Sunday. 2. Coach Casey, as he took a team that we embarrassed in New Ro and got them to play way over their heads, with their best player hobbled and their second best missing due to a family emergency (hope everything is okay in the Jordan family). Since offensive rebounds usually indicate effort, I'll give their coach credit for his team's play. 3. DL carried us on his broad back. And while not great but instrumental in our win:
4. AJ had a poor shooting night from the foul line (50%) and had a 5/3 A/TO ratio, but he, along with Sean are true gunslingers. No matter how many shots they miss, they KNOW they'll make the next one. Steve Burtt, Jr. was like that. And AJ got his FG percentage up to 40%. 5. 05 complained about Mike Poole picking up early fouls, and while I agree with him, but I do remember that DL used to get those calls. He and IW are so active on defense that when we get less than top level refs (most of the time) we get in foul trouble. 6. Sledge's two big plays down the stretch.
And my take on the bad: 7. The obvious, rebounding. 8. Ball handling, in the last two games against two bad teams, we've had 18 and 13 turnovers. Doubt that we can repeat #7 and #8 against the Griffs and win on Sunday. But we are in first place for a day at least.

BTW can't say enough about Tavon. Battling injuries, coming off the bench all year. Last night he makes a hustle play to win the game. Can't say enough about that. Much respect.

ctbill, I agree with you about Tavon, though I didn't see his last pass to AJ, but it won us the game.

Great win in a poorly played game. The law of averages still has a long way to go to make up for all of our bad luck over the years. I still like Sledge and believe he is important to our continued success.

A great video, and I came away with three thoughts: 1. Gary did indeed do a vg solo announcing job. 2. On the first one and one miss by Ware, we only had three guys on the line. It looked like AJ was supposed to be there, but he was talking with TC about something. 3. And the end of the game play where Tavon passed the ball to AJ, he was FOULED. Luckily for us it wasn't called, and there was a ref right on top of the play.
Thanks for the video SID.

59, I agree with all your points. I also have to say that Sledge played his heart out in the last 4 minutes. What he lacks in size he makes up with heart and hustle. SID, I thank you for the video. Having had to follow the game on the ticker, it was great to see the comeback.
Go Gaels!!!
